The OC Fodder

The OC - The Summer Bummer

Ryan fantasizes about Taylor on the kitchen prep table. It's actually Sandy with bagels in his face - he schmeared them for him. Seth comes in and says he is going to visit Summer. Ryan really needs to talk but he needs to get in a cab.

Summer gets told that she needs to leave - she is being suspended until the following fall. Sad news. She packs up her things and Che stops by to say he heard the bad news. She says clearly his plan worked out. He says he has made a difference in her life and she says it was getting her thrown out of school and kicks him out.

Ryan meanwhile has more Taylor fantasies but Kirsten comes by and says she will audition for the part of Seth. She says she's far more knowledgeable about women than Seth. He says he kissed Taylor and she says it's cute - he should be open to the possibility of good after everything that has happened. He says she is on the short list for the job.

The tennis pro stops by with Kaitlin's restrung racket and she puts the flirt back on. He says he has a no jailbait policy. He then gives her Woody Allen's line to hang out with people from her school. She goes to watch water polo and ends up talking to a couple of girls. An apparently popular girl is having a party and the two girls hope to be invited - but they aren't invited. Kaitiln comes out and says everyone can come to her party - she has five kegs, a quarter ounce of pot, and no parents.

Ryan asks Taylor if she is busy - she makes blog humor. He agrees to see her at the comic book shop. That night Seth calls Ryan and says he's going over to see Summer. Taylor and Ryan share a moment at the comic book shop and he yawn puts his arm over her shoulder but when he goes in for a kiss he stops and apologizes and says he can't do it. He says it's too weird.

Summer gets a call from Seth - she says she's in his room and he says he is in her room. She tells him what happened and he says he is going to go Ryan Atwood on his ass. The next morning, Seth kicks in Che's door and finds a cd recorded by him telling him he is in hiding. Julie comes out and sees Summer and asks what she is doing there.

Sandy and Ryan talk about things. He thinks maybe it's too soon.

Bullet comes to see Julie and invite her to dinner. She says he repulses her. She shows him her taser and he leaves. A gaggle of men arrives at the house the next day and apparently they were paid for by the Bullet.

Ryan goes to see Taylor at night and she introduces him to Roger, who has a lot in common with Taylor, she says. He had wanted to offer a ride home but she says she was going to hang out with Roger. He leaves.

Che goes to Summer's home and has the door slammed on him twice. She calls him a chicken and a snake and a rat. She says he hates him and then he handcuffs himself to her and won't unlock it. Taylor brings Roger to what was her room and meets Che. Summer tells her to ignore Che. They hear a clanging noise and wonder what it is. They find Kaitlin moving kegs with her friends.

Ryan has another Taylor fantasy and he and Seth agree to go to the party where Summer apparently is. People are playing 'seven minutes in heaven' inside. Kaitlin goes in the closet with the one popular girl's boyfriend but it is awkward. She tells him he must be gay.

Ryan finds Roger in bed and tells him to carry on whatever he's doing. This is when the popular girl's boyfriend pops up. It is determined that Roger got paid off with an action figure to pretend to like Taylor.

Seth finds Che and pushes him into the pool - of course Summer follows thanks to the handcuffs. Out of the pool weeping and pathetic, Summer accepts Che's apologies and Seth adds a footnote that says "not that you deserve it." It turns out that he is the son of the person who runs a pharmaceutical company. Seth says he will put off RISD until the following fall so they can go back together. She introduces him to Pancake.

The popular girl finds Summer and says the school is hers. She says she's not interested and by the way, her boyfriend is gay.

Ryan tracks down Taylor and she admits what she did. She says he's a sweet smart guy (and hot) and wants whatever will happen to happen. He finds it to be refreshingly normal. They almost kiss but then she says she hasn't ever played seven minutes in heaven. They make it pretty far past seven minutes.

Sandy is surprised to see Bullet at the restaurant where they are having dinner. He says he's honored to be there for their re-commitment ceremony. Bullet wonders why, if the Jews control the media, they don't use it to make everyone think it's someone else. Sandy and Kirsten excuse themselves. He says he is brainless around her and apologizes for everything coming out all wrong. He offers her breakfast for the next morning and promises he is working on funnier material to keep her smiling.

Sandy and Kirsten open the door and find a justice of the peace hired by Bullet to administer their renewal ceremony.
