Survivor Fodder

Survivor Tocantins Bios

So here are the Survivor-Tocantins contenders. In the beginning a lot of this is from official bios, but I'll add comments on characters as we go along.

[Last updated 5/08/09]

Please feel free to add your own comments on the Survivors below in the comments section.

All remaining survivors are now in a merged tribe - Forza.

Benjamin "Coach" Wade (37)
Hometown: Bolivar, Mo.
Occupation: Soccer Coach
Standing: Still in the game.
Former Tribe: Timbira
Individual immunities: 1

Women's college soccer coach and classical composer. Long distance kayaker and river runner. Has been bitten by both a tiger shark and a piranha. Extremely buff, with upper sleeve tattoos. Probst considers him "almost Richard Hatch level arrogant, and Coach knows it and agrees. Wants to face strong confident competitors. Got into some conflict with Candace in week two over cooking, and skeeved many female fans out with an attempted make-up kiss that turned into a lick, and seemed ineffective in a very physical challenge, where he might have been expected to excel. Still, Candace was the one voted out.

Coach appears to have lost in his efforts to remove Erinn in week 3, the ailing Jerry being voted out instead. His strategy in the reward competition failed and he is presenting a toxic attitude toward anyone who opposes him.

Coach elected not to be a weight-holder in the "strong man" competition in Week 4. In a scene we did not get to see on air, he told his tribesmates that he probably shouldn't compete there because of a slipped disk in his back. He was apparently the first to notice a key word in the survival challenge puzzle that led to Timbira's win. Revealed a certain talent for meteorology in week 5.

Conducts imaginary symphonies to the appreciation of some, scorn of others (cough)Erinn(cough). Some evidence that tribe members are disaffected with him in the burnt beans affair, week 6.

After the week 7 merge, formed an apparent alliance with himself, Tyson, JT, Debbie, and Stephen - although Stephen's loyalties are divided.

In week 8, in a test of voting strength between the Coach-Tyson alliance and Brendan's secret exile alliance, the Coach-Tyson alliance won hands down, winning the votes of all the merged Jalapao members plus Erinn and Debbie of Timbira, defeating Brendan 7-2 and sending him to the jury.

In week 9, the coalition fell apart as other tribe members seized the opportunity to boot Coach's ally Tyson when he failed to win individual immunity. Coach's dreams of a 'warrior alliance' seem to have gone down in flames, and now he and ally Debbie must scramble to find a way to remain in the game.

In week 10, Coach and Debbie tried to reconstitute Timbira in a last ditch stand against the fewer-in-numbers Jalapao Survivors, but the plan failed miserably as they couldn't make a rational case for cooperation to Sierra. Coach won immunity and they cooperated (cutting their own throats) in sending Sierra away.

Week 11 - Last week Coach survived because Sierra was viewed as more of a physical threat. This week he survived because Debbie was viewed as more of a mental threat. Can he convince that majority that Erinn is more of a moral threat? Stay tuned.

Benjamin Wade is known by many names. As the head women's soccer coach at the Southwest Baptist University in Missouri, he is called "Coach Wade," but he also goes by "Maestro" due to role as an artistic director and conductor of a California symphony orchestra. A skilled musician, Benjamin was traveling the world playing the trumpet before most kids could even spell "trumpet."

UPDATE: "Coach" was fired from his soccer coaching job after he returned from Survivor. The reported reason is that he left for the Survivor taping during soccer season giving a less than 100% truthful reason for his absence.

Wade sees coaching as another form of manipulation. "You have to find out what everybody wants, what everybody needs, what they think they want, what think they need and then you have to be the person that solves everything." He knows these skills will be valuable in the game of Survivor.

If Benjamin was asked to wear just one hat, it would be that of "Renaissance Man." Aside from setting the world record for the longest solo kayak expedition on the ocean (an amazing 6,132 miles), Wade has also been attacked by a tiger shark, stalked by a jaguar in the Amazon and has been bitten by a piranha on his right hand. To say that he is a Type A, Alpha male, who likes to control the environment around him may just be an understatement. Coach's dominant personality will be a force to be reckoned with in the game.

Benjamin is single and currently splits his time in Bolivar, Mo, and Susanville, Calif. His birth date is September 18.

Erinn Lobdell (26)
Hometown: Waukesha, Wis.
Occupation: Hairstylist
Standing: Still in the game.
Former Tribe: Timbira
Individual immunities: 0

Reports liking Parvati's performance. Uh oh. More cautious about committing to alliances than her tribesmates. Taking a 'wait and see' attitude. Avoided vote-out in week 3 because sick Jerry was considered even more of a liability - some tribesmates think they detected unreasonable elation at Jerry's distress.

In week four, Timbira escaped tribal council, and so Erinn was saved for at least three more says. Still getting on Coach's nerves and vice versa, week 5.

Still locking horns with Coach, but Timbira has avoided Tribal Council in weeks 5 and 6, so no test of her popularity with the rest of the tribe. Sent to Exile Island by Joe's choice in week 6, immediately figured out location of idol and gave the clues to Joe as well, but we didn't see what she did with the information after return to camp.

More conciliatory toward Coach in week 7. Actually voted in alliance with Coach and Tyson in week 8 in sending Brendan home. In week nine, she defected along with the former Jalapao members and sent Tyson home. She was on the winning reward challenge team and enjoyed a feast and a visit to a native village where she ate too much and ended up paying for it.

In week 10 Erinn was impressed by Sierra's defense of herself and declared she wouldn't cast a vote for Sierra that night. She ended up voting for Stephen, a vote that may come back to haunt her.

Week 11, Erinn faded into the background, enjoying some visit time with her brother, and participated in voting out Debbie.

Erinn Lobdell is a hairstylist and make-up artist who is out to prove she's not just another pretty face. After recently going through a very personal growing experience, Erinn is ready to prove that she can make it on her own and rise to the challenge Survivor will bring.

"A lot of times I've found that people don't think I'm smart enough to play games." says Erinn. Although she's fine with people thinking she's dumb because, according to her, "she'll be dumb like a fox." Those people couldn't be more wrong as she is ready to show off her strong people skills as well as her ability to read the faces of her competition. Through skills learned at her job, she's been able to adjust her behavior depending on the situation which can serve as a great strategy in the game.

As a runner, Erinn is very athletic and is constantly training for the next big event. She recently completed training for a marathon and works out every day to stay in great shape. To her, Survivor will be a very enriching experience and she is certain she will excel.

Erinn currently resides in Milwaukee, Wis. Her birth date is October 21.

James "JT" Thomas Jr. (24)
Hometown: Samson, Ala.
Occupation: Cattle Rancher
Standing: Still in the game.
Former Tribe: Jalapao
Individual immunities: 0

'Good ole boy' from Samson, Alabama. Manages a black angus cattle farm. First in his family with a bachelor's degree, used to working outdoors, likes to flirt with pretty girls. Showed good effort in both immunity challenges through week two. Outdoor smarts admired by Stephen who hopes to ally with him. Did well as fisherman in week 3 and rose in esteem among tribes members. Did well in challenges.

Held 220 pounds before dropping out of the week 4 "Strong Man" competition, tying the Survivor records to Rupert from Survivor-Pearl Islands and contributing greatly to Jalapao's win. Very active in physical immunity challenge, lost a tooth and shrugged it off. Seemed to be the driving force in getting Spencer booted.

Appeared to be the deciding vote in booting Sydney, week 6, choosing connections and toughness (Taj) over beauty. Took lead role in immunity challenge where poor performance might have cost the team the win.

Seeking alliance with Coach and Tyson after the merge. In week 8, after sharing a reward with Brendan and Debbie, JT was courted strongly by Brendan, but ultimately stuck with the Coach-Tyson alliance in a 7-2 majority.

In week 9, the two defected, along with Taj and Erinn, and sent Tyson home. Was on the winning reward challenge team as well, enjoying a feast and a visit to a native village, but decided to sit out the immunity challenge to get some pizza. Relations with Coach will probably suffer from the defection.

Answers in the Reward Challenge and talk around tribal council both indicated that JT is well liked in week 10. He was unanimously considered the 'person tribe members would stake their life on'. He placed second in the immunity challenge to Coach, but at least this week the lack of immunity cost him nothing.

JT and Stephen continued to dominate the end-game. JT got a visit from his sister Adriana, missed his cows, and finished a close second in the immunity challenge.

A cattle manager raised in Samson, Alabama, JT operates a registered Angus Cattle Ranch. In addition to preparing the land and working the cattle, this southern charmer is responsible for all the paperwork and marketing associated with running the business.

This ambitious 24-year-old gets fired up when people insult his intelligence and says "I'm not a dumb hillbilly, so don't think it!" However, this may be just the strategy that JT chooses to use and isn't above playing the "dumb and innocent country boy role" in an effort to gain alliances with the women. JT attended Troy University and is the first in his family to earn a Bachelors Degree. His is in business administration.

A true family man, JT values his relationships and will work towards forming alliances that will take him very far in the game. This strong country boy is competitive and determined and will use manipulation in order to help him succeed and ultimately win Survivor.

JT is single and currently resides in Mobile, Ala. His birth date is June 23.

Stephen Fishbach (29)
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Occupation: Corporate Consultant
Standing: Still in the game. Invited into secret cross-tribe alliance with Brendan, Taj, and Sierra.
Former Tribe: Jalapao
Individual immunities: 0

Yale grad (but he hopes to hide it), self-confessed city boy, wears glasses. (Hope he watched Yau Man.) Says (week 2) he's surprised to find himself admitting country-boy JT and want to ally with him. Caught his first fish in week 3. Exiled in week 5, began to bond with Brendan but holding back somewhat. Holding the hidden immunity idol Taj and he discovered in week 5. Also has voiced entertaining possibility of blind-siding Taj to have the idol all to himself.

Seemingly in two opposite alliances after week 7 merge. Ultimately allied with Coach-Tyson in a strong 7-2 majority in week 8. But with only one more opponent to vote out, the knives will start flashing in two weeks. Was sent on the first solo exile and prided himself on finally being able to start a fire.

Exiled again in week 9, and frustrated to find no new idol hidden after Brendan's week 8 exit. Successfully conspired to go behind Coach's back and boot off Tyson. Confident enough to forego competing for individual immunity to score some pizza.

Won the Reward Challenge in week 10, and bone-headedly selected Erinn to go to Exile Island and JT and Taj to share the reward with him, leaving the three most susceptible to defection alone in camp plot against his alliance. Managed to dodge the bullet as Debbie and Sierra blew up at each other.

In the tribal council voting, picked up a vote from Erinn, and another vote from Taj defected from the objective of eliminating Sierra, both of which must concern Stephen. The even-number of tribes mates weeks, like next week, are crucial points where one defection can create tie and create chaos, since we're never sure what tie-breaker the show will use. Stephen must use his skill to keep his core coalition together.

Yale can be proud of her grad. In week 11 Stephen used a neat memory trick to win the immunity challenge and even explained it so lucidly everyone could understand it. He and JT continue to ride high on the alliance hog, but they're coming down to the time they have to vote off an alliance member, when things can get ugly.

Stephen Fishbach believes he's a cutthroat player who can manipulate his way to Survivor success, though you couldn't tell that by looking at his non-threatening appearance. The first one to tell you he resembles a Muppet, Stephen plans to sidetrack his competition with his goofy charm and quirky sense of humor.

Aided by his quick wit and prankster personality, this Internet marketing director could very well be a major player behind the scenes. A Yale graduate, Stephen certainly has the right mix of brains and charisma to disarm his fellow castaways. This New Yorker believes people will be inclined to trust him but claims "that would be their mistake, because then I strike!"

Described by his friends as wild, smart and ambitious, Stephen's biggest pet peeve is when somebody is "overconfident or cocky." He plans to use that type of person to his advantage by forming a bond and then subtly prompting them to carry out his decisions. A strategist, Stephen prides himself on being able to pretend to agree with someone's idea while replacing it with his own.

In his free time, Stephen keeps himself active and fit by boxing and lifting weights. He also takes part in urban combat activities, namely the Iditarod, which he describes as a great event where "five idiots drag a shopping cart from Brooklyn to Manhattan." Among his reasons for why he believes he will excel at Survivor, Stephen lists "he's strategic and devious."

Stephen is single and currently resides in New York, N.Y. His birth date is January 24.

Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George (37)
Hometown: Nashville, Tenn.
Occupation: Former Pop Star
Standing: Still in the game. Has found the hidden immunity idol. Has formed secret cross-tribe alliance with Brendan, Stephen, and Sierra.
Former Tribe: Jalapao
Individual immunities: 0

Grammy nominated singer from Nashville. Husband former pro running back and Heisman trophy winner Eddie George. Says she's a tomboy with "muscles under this fat". Chosen by Brendan to accompany her to Exile Island in week 2, now has a vague clue to the hidden immunity idol back in her camp. Went to Exile Island week 3 also, returning with a very good clue. Proposes four way down the road alliance with Brendan and a member to be named later from each tribe (probably Sierra and Stephen.)

In week 4, in final one-on-one duel with Debbie, won the competition for Jalapao by holding 220 pounds. Later, when Brendan messed up and failed to invite Sierra into the secret alliance, Taj went to exile, sounded out the situation, and 'saved' Brendan by inviting Sierra in. Finally avoided exile in week 5,and got to go on reward with tribe. Found the hidden immunity idol, but is letting Stephen hold it for safe keeping.

Was on the block for elimination along with Sydney in week 6, but retained by one vote - apparently confident enough of winning to not play immunity idol.

Worried about lack of communication from Brendan after week 7 merge. Defected to the Coach-Tyson alliance in week 8, leaving Brendan with only one ally. Still has an idol to play, and that and a combination of under-the-radar play may take her far. Week 9 - joined the conspiracy to boot off Tyson. Still mostly under the radar.

Taj remained under the radar in week 10, enjoying a reward that Stephen won, but not personally being responsible for denying anyone anything or sending anyone to exile. She mildly defected in voting for Debbie instead of Sierra, which may make it difficult to hold the coalition together next week. If Coach and Debbie get a "we're next" vibe, they might try to recruit Erinn and force a tie. Taj's immunity idol is still a wild-card in the high-stakes game of Survivor.

Taj is still low on the radar screens. In week 11 she earned some gratitude from her tribe mates by making a not-very-difficult choice to go to exile with her husband Eddie George, which allowed all the other Survivors to enjoy friend/relative visits as well. Still has her idol and looking good for at least F-3.

Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George already has a lot on her plate, but can't wait to add Survivor contestant into the mix. A Grammy®-nominated singer, successful author, wife of a former NFL pro and mother of two wonderful boys, Taj believes she will be the "most underestimated player" in the game.

A Grammy®-nominee for her soul group SWV ("Sisters With Voices"), Taj says "her group was the one to beat." Selling over six million records, her time as a singer has prepared her for the spotlight.

In addition to her music career, Taj is also an accomplished writer. The author of "Player HateHER: How To Avoid The Beat Down And Live In A Drama Free World," she tries to practice what she preaches as her true pride and life's focus lies within her family. The wife of Heisman Trophy winner and former Tennessee Titan running back Eddie George, she warns all opponents, "I'm not the average NFL wife and mother."

Growing up in Brooklyn, Taj overcame both physical and mental abuse in her life. With her background, it's no wonder she says she's "naturally distrustful." Taj goes on to say "I am literally, truly a survivor, who has survived more things you can ever imagine." She is used to beating the odds and plans to do it again.

In her free time, Taj says she is very physical and likes to workout, running, swimming and doing yoga and kickboxing. Taj is the total package built around strength and street smarts and will be a fierce competitor in this game.

Taj currently resides in Nashville, Tenn. Her birth date is April 29.

Long time Survivor host. Known as "Peachy" for reasons I'm not privy to. Once rode a jet ski from South America to New York - if you believed the finale into.

You might notice that Peachy seems to pronounce the name of this Survivor as "toe-can-CHEENS". I believe this might be correct if we were speaking French. In the preview I watched, several other crew members pronounce it the same way. Maybe they know something we don't, but the Merriam-Webster pronouncing dictionary HERE, says it is "toe-can-TEENS", which would be the more usual pronunciation for Spanish/Portuguese speakers.

However, in fairness, THIS PLACE, seems to go Peachy's way.

Debra "Debbie" Beebe (46)
Hometown: Auburn, Ala.
Occupation: Middle School Principal
Standing: Still in the game.
Former Tribe: Timbira
Individual immunities: 1

Older but in good shape. Auburn, Alabama, middle school principal to 900 kids. "I'm little, but I'm strong." Revealed herself as very trusting in accepting Brendan and Sierra's "fire pit" explanation for the huge hole they dug looking for the hidden immunity idol. Did not do well as director of her tribe in the blindfolded maze competition in week 3.

Debbie ended up the final competitor for her tribe in the week 4 "Strong Man" competition, but unfortunately was matched with even weights against the much larger Taj. She dropped out as 20 more pounds were added to the 100 she was holding, and Timbira lost. Lost the last leg of the reward challenge being slow on the balance beam, week 5.

Much good-natured horseplay with Tyson - appears allied with Coach and Tyson. Week 7 add JT and Stephen (maybe) to the alliance. Voted with the majority in sending Brendan away in week 8.

In week 9 Debbie won the individual immunity in a game of "Survivor Shuffleboard", partly by skill and partly by luck of the draw in shooting last in the last round. At tribal council her coalition from the previous week fell apart and now she must scramble for a new one to avoid early elimination. Was on winning team on reward challenge earning a feast and a visit to a native village where the children reminded her of her own children and her school's pupils.

Week 10, she and Coach failed to reconstitute Jalapao, leaving themselves vulnerable in the coming weeks, but Sierra went home this week.

In week 11 Debbie decided to bail out of her long-time alliance with Coach, but her aggressive courting of the dominant former-Jalapao alliance worried Stephen and JT about her gamesmanship, and they decided to vote her out. The vote was a split 4-1-1.

A self-described people person, Debra Beebe is a middle school principal and married mom from Auburn, Alabama who believes that her natural leadership abilities and tactful problem-solving skills will contribute to her success as a castaway on Survivor. Debra, also known as "Bubbles," feels that her enthusiastic and energetic personality, in addition to her take-charge attitude, will erase any doubts about her ability to succeed in this game.

The fact that she is one of the older castaways will not be a hindrance for this woman who previously trained alongside Olympic athletes and still rises every morning at 4:30AM to get in her daily workout before tackling a day filled with hundreds of pubescent teens, pre-teens, parents, faculty and staff. Not one to be intimidated (even at a tiny 5'2"), Debra juggles work, her husband and her children. It's no surprise that this go-getter won "Alabama's Principal of the Year" award yet still finds occasional free time for shopping and dancing.

Debra feels that her occupation has taught her how to deal with politics which she can apply to the group dynamics of her tribe. With her abilities as a natural leader combined with her bossy and competitive nature, Debra plans to focus on the weaknesses of others in an effort to get them eliminated.

Debra is married with five children and currently resides in Auburn, Ala. Her birthday is September 28.

Sierra Reed (23)
Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
Standing: Voted out by the Forza tribe in a split vote in week 10.
Had a clue to one-time immunity idol but failed to find it. Invited into secret cross-tribe alliance with Brendan, Taj, and Stephen, though nothing came of it.

Former Tribe: Timbira
Individual immunities: 0

Fashion student and model. Says she grew up fast. Likes the guys better than girls. A bit tomboyish, though you wouldn't know if from her body. Says she was ill with strep throat on the original drive to the Survivor site - perhaps leading the tribe to 'vote her out' although it turned out to be a fake vote. Earned some points with her tribe by working hard to create shelter while they trekked to camp. As one of the fake-voted-out tribe members, she got a clue to a one-time hidden immunity idol, but failed to find it despite digging the biggest hole ever seen on Survivor, along with Brendan, whom she recruited to help her find it. Criticized by some teammates for 'shrillness' in reward challenge, but showed she was at least thinking, more than any of her teammates did.

Eagerly joined the secret alliance when invited by Taj at Exile Island, week 4. Conflict with Coach over bean-cooking in week 6. In week 8, stuck with Brendan and was burned as the only other tribe member to do so. With Brendan gone faces a bleak future.

Sierra seemed certain to be eliminated in week 9, but was saved when other tribe members organized a boot-out of Tyson. Now she may be Coach's only hope for remaining in the game. (How ironic.)

In week 10 Coach and Debbie invited her to join them and attempt to bring Erinn in to a reconstituted Timbira tribal alliance, but Sierra's emotional encounters with Coach the previous week wouldn't allow her to join them. Cameron and Debbie then lied and said Sierra was the instigator. Sierra defended herself in a highly emotional confrontation in front of the tribe that convinced some, but not enough, leading to a vote out that was Sierra 4, Debbie 2, and Stephen 1

Sierra Reed wants to make it clear right off the bat that she has the ability to find her place in any situation, anywhere in the world, through her perseverance and strength. Despite the fact that she is strong-willed and determined, she is one who will wear her heart on her sleeve. Not intimidated by age, ("I'm 25 and if you're 45 that's great, but if we have differences, I'm going to let you know"), Reed will speak her mind, yet she does it with purpose and passion. She hopes that her tenacity will balance out her "strong nature."

This fashion student and model is no stranger to roughing it. After moving to Taiwan by herself at a very young age, Sierra is used to living in places with no running water and filled with grime and bugs. Sierra is a self-proclaimed adventure junkie who "loves to experience new things all the time" and she believes that those experiences make her a prime candidate for Survivor.

Sierra claims she isn't a "very stereotypical model," because she doesn't do it for the notoriety; she does it because modeling can help facilitate new experiences and allows for travel to amazing locations which is something she enjoys tremendously.

Her modeling background has helped to shape her strategy for the game. Forced to deal with a variety of personalities all competing for the same goal is nothing new to her, having lived with five catty models vying for one spot. This experience will be to her advantage when forming alliances and making her way through the twists of the game.

Sierra is single and currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif. Her birth date is September 29.

Tyson Apostol (29)
Hometown: Lindon, Utah
Occupation: Professional Cyclist
Standing: Voted off 5-3 in week 9.
Former Tribe: Timbira
Individual immunities: 2

Pro cyclist, should be fit. Mormon from Utah, served two year missionary stint in the Philippines, which he figures will help - similar climate. Admires the style of Johnny Fairplay. Probst "He's the type you love to hate." Tyson "I'm too pretty to hate." I foresee clashes with Coach.

Despite my prediction above, he appeared to ally with Coach, Tyson, and Debbie in week 2 toward voting Candace out. Week 3 - Still seems allied with Coach. Not much impact in challenges in week 3.

Competed in "Strong-Man" competition in week 4 but dropped out at 140 pounds, 80 short of Brendan's Timbira best. Scored winning points in immunity challenge, week 5.

Week 6 - Becoming "class clown" of tribe.

Won first individual immunity challenge in week 7. Won immunity again in week 8 and allied with Coach and 5 others including all the former Jalapao to send Brendan away. Seems to be riding high at this point. How soon will others perceive him as a top threat and vote accordingly?

As it turns out only a week later (see conjecture above). In week 9, the former Jalapao tribe members, along with Erinn (knowingly) and Sierra (unknowingly) seized the chance to eliminate Tyson after Debbie won the individual immunity idol. Tyson had been rather callous talking to Sierra, whim everyone assumed was going, and congratulated the remaining tribe members for booting him "Now I know how Brendan feels."

Witty, charming and arrogant is how Tyson Apostol describes himself. This former pro-cyclist and swimmer believes that his natural athleticism, combined with his "life of the party" personality, will get him far in the game. His favorite movie is "The Jerk" and that's how some people just might describe him.

He compares his game strategy to that of some of the most entertaining castaways to ever play the game. Much like them, he is willing to do almost anything to win one million dollars, including implementing the use of lies and deceit to feed off the "emotional weakness" of the other castaways. A Brigham Young University drop-out, he is actually very well traveled and skilled in street smarts, previously spending two years in the Philippines as a Mormon missionary, in addition to six years as a cyclist in Switzerland, Belgium and Austria.

In many ways Tyson can be brash, egotistical and unapologetic but, oddly enough, he has no tolerance for "know-it-alls" or individuals who lack common courtesy. In addition to, as he describes it, "looking awesome," his favorite hobbies are exercising and sunbathing. If he becomes the next sole Survivor, he plans to use all of the money for selfish purposes, starting with "the most smoking motorcycle around."

Tyson currently resides in Heber City, Utah and his birthday is June 17.

Brendan Synnott (30)
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Occupation: Entrepreneur
Standing: Voted out in 4-3-2 vote in week 8. Failed to use his hidden immunity idol. Two members of his secret cross-tribe alliance Taj and Stephen defected, leaving only Sierra voting with him.
Former Tribe: Timbira
Individual immunities: 0

Lives in Vail, loves outdoor sports. Rich, multi-millionaire founder of "Bear Naked" foods (granola, cereal, etc).

Sierra shared her one-time-use hidden immunity idol clue with him, because he voted for someone else in the off-the-truck fake vote-out. Despite heroic efforts, they failed to find it. First person sent to Exile Island by a winning challenge tribe. Chose Taj from the other tribe to accompany him. Was talked into sharing his clue with Taj. Maneuvered himself into a second trip to Exile Island in week 3 and again selected Taj, and parlayed the clue he got there into possession of the hidden immunity idol.

Brendan was the primary weight carrier for his team in the strong-man competition in week 4, ultimately holding 200 pound before collapsing as 20 more were added - in a losing effort, however. Nearly dropped the ball by never inviting Sierra into secret alliance, but Taj picked it up for him. Very active in physical immunity challenge. Sent to Exile Island for the fourth straight time in week 5.

Managed to avoid exile in week 6, and contributed to double win for Timbira that week. Some alpha-male competitiveness with Coach.

Other members of the "secret alliance" wonder, after the week 7 merge, why Brendan hasn't called a meeting. In week 8, his failure to communicate bit him badly as all the former Jalapao members defected to the Coach-Tyson alliance, including 'secret exile alliance' members Taj and Stephen. He failed to play his immunity idol, leaving with it in his pocket. Had he used it, the plotters would have sent Sierra home instead leaving Brendan open to defeat in the following week. Brendan becomes the first member of the jury that will select the sole Survivor.

Brendan Synnott is all about playing the game. Whether it is in front of a classroom teaching entrepreneurial success or taking part in outdoor extreme adventures, he knows how to read the odds.

Raised by a single mom in Connecticut, Brendan pulled himself up by the bootstraps to be the co-founder and CEO of Bear Naked, a natural food brand that was recently acquired by a major corporation. Despite his financial success, he is not all about the money.

Success to him, however, is about more than simply creating, building and selling a thriving business; it's about hard work, passion, fun and surrounding yourself with the best people.

Synnott has always wanted to combine his love of the outdoors with his skills as a leader. In school, he played both football and baseball, and still stays active as much as possible. He loves to compete and says it's a driving force, even in business. It will especially be a driving force on Survivor.

Brendan is single and currently resides in Vail, Colo. His birth date is Sept. 28.

Joe Dowdle (26)
Hometown: Austin, Texas
Occupation: Real Estate Sales
Standing: Out of game in week 7 due to medical. Had a fake immunity idol, which he appeared to think was real - disposition unknown.
Former Tribe: Jalapao

Texan, doesn't like 'overly dramatic' people. Worries his weakness is over-confidence. Probst says he has "high hopes" for Joe. Directed the tribe well in winning the blind-maze reward challenge in week 3.

Competed in the week 4 "Strong Man" challenge, but dropped out at 140 pounds, 80 less that JT. One vote cast for him (by Taj) in tribal council. Strong effort but no points in physical immunity challenge, week 5. May trust Taj a little too much.

Went to Exile Island with Erinn in week 6 and was given the clue by her. Took first opportunity to get the idol (a fake, planted by Taj) but inexplicably failed to give it to Sydney before her vote-off.

The leg injury sustained in the week 5 immunity challenge drove him out of the game in week 7, on the advice of the medical staff.

This 26-year-old southern gentleman and savvy businessman was raised in a single parent household along with his sister. Joe is eternally grateful to his mother for all the sacrifices she made while he was growing up. He currently works in real estate investment sales and enjoys spending his free time strumming his guitar, tossing around a football and hanging out with friends. He is definitely a man who takes pride in hard work and being a Texan.

Joe truly is a genuine Texas Cowboy. After a rigorous selection process in combination with a high GPA from the University of Texas at Austin, he was selected to join the Texas Cowboys, which is a service organization where members act as ambassadors for, according to Joe, "the greatest university in the world," the University of Texas. When he is not working or volunteering his time, Joe enjoys playing basketball and golf in addition to spending time working out and running.

He feels that he will be the next person to win Survivor because he is dedicated, goal oriented and plans to use a strategy he calls "persuade and evade." He intends to constantly look for alliances and win challenges, all while staying just below the radar. He doesn't like overly dramatic people and hates to lose. Unfortunately he may be faced with both in his attempt to become the next sole Survivor.

Joe Dowdle is single and resides in Austin, Texas. His birthday is June 29.

Sydney Wheeler (24)
Hometown: Raleigh, N.C.
Occupation: Model
Standing: Voted out 3-2 by Jalapao in week 6.
Former Tribe: Jalapao

Probst declares her "the most beautiful of survivors". Hopes to avoid being just another pretty face. Raleigh, North Carolina native. Model and design student. I live near Raleigh, but we never met. Dang. Showed plenty of pluck in physical immunity challenge, week 2.

In week 4, many tribe members said it was a hard choice between Sydney and Sandy as to who should be voted out, but ultimately chose Sandy instead. Acquitted herself well in reward challenge, week 5.

Voted out in close vote week 6.

Sydney Wheeler is the girl next door. Beautiful and smart, Sydney learned early on to adapt to any situation after spending her childhood being shuttled between her conservative parents.

Growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sydney decided to move out to the west coast to try her hand at modeling and interior design. She plans to use the skills she's learned working with different clients to help navigate the social game of SURVIOR. She's also not afraid to use her looks to further herself in the competition.

Forced to mature at an early age, Sydney knows what it really means to live life to its fullest. At age 19 she lost her sister Laura in a tragic car accident, but throughout it all has maintained a positive attitude. "God put us on Earth to do good things, big things and that's what I'm trying to do and achieve in life."

Sydney knows she can use her winning personality, along with her beauty, her body and her brains, to charm people. Wheeler warns, "people stereotype me as just a pretty face. Don't misjudge me, I'm going win." Sydney is ready for the adventure Survivor will surely provide.

Sydney is in a relationship and currently resides in San Diego, Calif. Her birth date is May 11, 1984.

Spencer Duhm (19)
Hometown: Lakeland, Fla.
Occupation: Student
Standing: Voted out 5-1 by Jalapao, week 5.
Former Tribe: Jalapao

Youngest survivor ever at 19, likes to eat. Outgoing, strong survivor fan, Probst worries he may have a tendency to "overthink" things. Took up for Sandy after initial vote. Enjoying fish, week 3. Perceived lack of effort in a very physical immunity challenge in week 5 led to him being voted out. Never revealed his sexual orientation to the tribe for fear it might have prejudiced some of them.

Soon to see his teenage years in the rear-view mirror, Spencer Duhm is ready to look forward to the journey ahead of him. A fan of Survivor since day one, which began when he was still in grade school, Spencer can practically do a Castaway roll-call all the way from Survivor: Borneo. His fanaticism will give him a built-in edge that can make a direct contribution to how far he goes in this game.

Born and raised in Lakeland, Florida and currently a student at the University of Florida, Spencer majors in telecommunications and minors in business and European union studies. Aside from being the recruitment chair for his UF crew team, where he also rows competitively, Spencer is a huge sports fan. Involved in myriad athletic activities since age 7, Spencer has developed a strong competitive streak and determination to achieve success. Rooting for his college Gators or beloved Cubs familiarized him with all of the peaks and valleys associated with being a contender, which may help him navigate the ups and downs associated with castaway life.

With a resume like his, it's no surprise that this self-professed lover of "water cooler gossip" can't stand slow-talkers or laziness and is very ambitious and very outgoing. He is even willing to face his fear of heights for one million dollars but there is one fear that he refuses to face. When asked what he would not do for a million dollars he responded, "Snakes in general, I just don't do snakes." This young, goal-oriented man has been presented with his childhood dream of competing on his favorite reality show and truly feels that he has what it takes to become the next sole Survivor .

Spencer is a gay, single man and currently resides in Gainesville, Fla. His birthday is December 20.

Sandy Burgin (53)
Hometown: Louisville, Ky.
Occupation: Bus Driver
Standing: Voted out 5-1-1 by Jalapao in week 4.
Former Tribe: Jalapao

Bus driver from Kentucky, oldest of the group at 53, grandmother of two but has own 'tramp stamp'. As one of the fake-voted-out tribes members, she got a clue to a one-time hidden immunity idol, but failed to find it, partially because she couldn't figure out what a "Pace" was. Reacted badly to the fake-vote, but partly redeemed herself with outstanding job done in the first immunity challenge.

A country girl through and through, Sandy Burgin grew up and still lives in Kentucky, where she takes pride in being the state champion of the School Bus Rodeo. A night owl by occupation, Sandy works the graveyard shift transporting construction workers to their work sites. As a professional driver for 30 years, she isn't a stranger to cat calls, especially since she is the one doing it. On one occasion she called out to a tall thin man, commenting on his physique when, to her surprise, he turned around and was clearly a priest!

She likes to unwind by crocheting or listening to country, oldies or some good old fashioned rock and roll. Her penchant for reading "do it yourself" magazines in addition to her fishing skills just might make her a valuable member of her tribe.

Sandy describes herself as funny and fearless and can't stand mean or greedy people. She is looking forward to interacting with new and interesting people and is thrilled at the opportunity to win a million dollars. With an outdoorsy nature (as reflected by her mouse tattoo) and a kooky personality, in combination with her determination to win, Sandy feels that she has what it takes to be the next Survivor.

Sandy currently resides in Louisville, Ky. Her birthday is July 1.

Jerry Sims (49)
Hometown: Rock Hill, SC
Occupation: Sgt. - U.S. Army
Standing: Voted out 6-1 by Timbira in Week 3.
Former Tribe: Timbira

Army sergeant just back from Afghanistan, doesn't know if he wants the others to know that. Should have good leadership skills, which can be a plus or a minus. Appears allied with Coach and Tyson at week 2. Was ailing and weak in challenges with stomach ailment he attributed to the beans they were eating, leading to vote-off in week 3. May have been relieved to go, was very gracious to tribesmates in his parting remarks.

Jerry Sims promises, "you've never seen anybody like me before." Growing up in a poor family, he was one of 10 children who had to learn, very early on, the skills to help him survive in the real world. Jerry has been passing on those survival skills learned from his childhood to soldiers in the Army National Guard for the last 20 years.

A 1st Sergeant and specialist in Nuclear Operations, Sims just recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. No stranger to being in a leadership position, Sims was in charge of 100 men and not only knew how to manage them, but also earned their respect. "With this big smile and this convincing attitude, I get them to do exactly what I want them to do!"

He's always been a strong proponent of the team concept, a skill that came in handy growing up in such a large household, especially around dinner time "where you had to be on time!" Jerry is also a family man, who's been married for 25 years and has both an adult son and daughter. He has no qualms about saying he's doing this for the money. "The million is in my grasp! I've got to have it. I'm a competitor. I like to win. I like to win, win, win!"

Raised on a chicken farm in South Carolina, Jerry also knows how to live off the land and involve everyone in the daily chores. This self-proclaimed jokester says he will give his fellow castaways some much need entertainment, but nobody should misinterpret his cheery personality for weakness because Jerry proudly proclaims, "I am physically fit, I am mentally strong and I'm ready for the million."

Jerry currently resides in Rock Hill, SC. His birth date is May 18.

Candace Smith (31)
Hometown: Dayton, Ohio
Occupation: Attorney
Standing: Voted out 7-1 by Timbira tribe, week 2.

Hot body, lawyer, model. Miss Ohio 2003. Worries about appearing arrogant. Can flirt, if need be. Came into conflict with Coach and was voted out by Timbira tribe in week 2.

Candace Smith grew up as a tomboy and athlete, competing in soccer, basketball and track. She lacks fear or inhibition and is always ready to take on new challenges. This sexy former Miss Ohio USA has both beauty and brains, making her a real threat to her competitors.

Candace prides herself in having both book and street smarts. Growing up in the inner city of Dayton, Ohio, Candace worked hard to receive a full academic scholarship to the University of Dayton. She went on to graduate from Northwestern University School of Law and began working as a commercial real estate attorney. After becoming Miss Ohio USA, she decided to move to L.A. to pursue other aspirations, including modeling, acting and opening her own consulting firm.

Although Candace no longer practices law, she still utilizes her legal skills in everyday life. As an attorney, she mastered the skills of mental combat and knows how to create a strong bargaining position, which will certainly come in handy on Survivor. Candace has also learned how to relate to many different types of people from traveling all over the world, including England, Spain and Cuba. Aside from traveling, she also enjoys running, cooking and writing. She is currently working on a book of her memoirs.

While friends describe her as resilient, funny and overall positive, she admits she is brutally honest by nature and can come across as a bitch, which may cause her problems with her tribe. Although she knows how to negotiate and be diplomatic, she has a difficult time socializing with phony people. To win this game, she knows she'll have to be able to bite her tongue because she knows what's at risk. A victory would help provide the children in her family with funds for education and she hopes that a strong mix of athleticism and work ethic will take her to the end.

Candace is single and currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif. Her birth date is February 1.

Carolina Eastwood (26)
Hometown: West Hollywood, Calif.
Occupation: Bartender
Standing: Voted out 7-1 first week by Jalapao.

Army brat. Born in Panama. Small but feisty. Bartender in LA. She looks a lot better than this rather harsh pic. Attributes her ouster to her inability to avoid speaking her mind.

Born in Panama, Carolina spent the first six years of her life living in poverty until her father, an Army soldier, moved the family to the United States so he could have the opportunity to provide a better life for them. Despite the adversity that Carolina has faced throughout her life, she has a positive outlook and views those difficulties as learning experiences that have pushed her to become the trash-talking firecracker and survivor of life that she is today.

Three years ago, with only $250 in her pocket, Carolina made the move from Florida to Los Angeles to accomplish personal goals and to fulfill her desire to help provide for her family. Life has not been easy for this California bartender but rather than succumbing to the negative pressures, she decided to face her inner demons and live life with a positive, compassionate outlook.

Carolina describes the relationship with her mother as an emotional roller coaster but admires the woman that was able to overcome adversity and become a self-sufficient mother of three. Her mother has shown Carolina what dreams are made of by giving her a life that would have been impossible in Panama.

While her game strategy is still a work-in-progress, Carolina knows that the lessons learned from her life experiences have provided her with tools that may get her far in this game. If she becomes the next sole Survivor, Carolina plans to give back to her mother, help her brothers with school, and donate to various organizations that aid victims of rape and domestic violence.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and participating in outdoor activities such as surfing, snowboarding and hiking with her dogs, Sandy and Zoe.

Carolina currently resides in West Hollywood, Calif. Her birthday is October 27.
