Supernatural: MOTWs

blood.jpgThe last episode was interesting for having 2 MOTWs. Ghost ships are something I'm a little familiar with. My first web page was a site called "Sea Mysteries." One of the mysteries I posted about were ghost ship sightings. It might interest you to know that the Flying Dutchman is only the most famous ghost ship. Here are some links to others, though not all are harbingers of doom as the Flying Dutchman legend states.

Gettysburg Ghosts has a few brief descriptions of some ghost ships.

Prairie Ghosts has an article discussing ghost ships of the US Great Lakes.

Paraluman has some info on ghost ships of the British Isles.

The Unmuseum goes into some detail on the Flying Dutchman, the Marie Celeste, and adds the story of the Baychinco.

About.com has a page on ghost ships, as does Wkipedia.

Ghost Haunts has links, most dupkicates, but at least one I wasn't familiar with.

Lots of links at Winter Steel.

Long article on ghost ships at Suite101.com.

Hand of Glory

I don't have as much on the Hand of Glory, other than the wiki entry (and to be honest, I'm afraid of what I might find if I google search it). But it made me think of another hand.

The Monkey's Paw was a story by W. W. Jacobs. An object, a mummified monkey's paw, has the ability to grant 3 wishes, but each wish is perverted so that it comes true in an evil manner. For example, a couple wishes for money, which they receive as a settlement for the death of their son.

This sounds somewhat similar to the Bad Day episode. But I think it has some possibilities of its own, so we may see an episode later on this subject. And much like the twists the writers like to throw at us (for example, the twist in Red Sky is that the ghost ship is a harbinger of doom, but only to those who kill relatives), we may see this plot also twisted on us.
