This week, Supernatural Season 3 is live! I've got some news links for you to get you started.
Firefox.org News and SyFy Portal both have some hints (and spoilers!) on the coming season.
Surely by now you've heard of the 2 new female characters. I'm reserving judgement on the additions for now. I'm ready for the writers to flesh the underworld elements out with more on the hunter lifestyle and the other people that know about the supernatural world. But from all accounts, this was a network demand, not a creative decision. That should raise a red flag immediately. But for more on the additions, you can go to BuddyTV or Firefox News.
In the meantime, I've been checking out the Supernatural: Origins comics, um, graphic novels. I missed issues 1 and 2 (they have been hard to find in this area), but picked up 3 and 4. I wouldn't call the art great - it seems very Manga inspired in that the characters are minimally drawn (in fact, the usual face has shadows for eyes. That's an unusual convention, eyes are the most expressive part of the face). But the writing is interesting. The backstory that is being developed so far raises some questions both about what happened to Mary, and what happened to other secondary characters from the show (Ellen makes an appearance, as does Pastor Jim from Season 1's episode "Salvation").
That's it for now,
I am totally psyched for the debut. I am in the 'have faith' section of the audience - I think the writers can handle the introduction of the girls into the mix.
Here's hoping, at least!
