Average episode, but it advances the story. A connection revealed.
Critique
This episode was all about setting up the long term storyline. Sam finds out that he's not the only child with a gift. And there's a strange connection between him and Max, an abused boy whose family is suffering strange deaths.
Max and Sam's mothers both died from demonic circumstances. But it brought out the worst in Max's dad, and Max was abused throughout his life until things snapped.
But it also brought out psychic powers of telekinesis, which Sam demonstrates also in the episode.
What is the connection between psychic children and demons hunting their families? I think this will be revealed throughout the second season.
On another note, Dean once again shows his willingness to kill humans if he feels they are a danger to others. And once again, Sam talks him out of it. This time, it almost has disastrous results.
All in all, an average episode.
Trivia
Sera Gamble and Raelle Tucker team up again. Not as strong an effort, but on balance, a decent episode.
Directed by Philip Sgriccia. Several credits, including Smallville.
