Comment from James

Eh, big deal. I'd rather them cancel this overrated, self-involved series and focus more of their time on expanding the appeal of Friday Night Lights, which is 10 times the show Studio 60 never will be. What's sad is that I like most of the cast of Studio 60, but they all deserve something of a higher caliber (not to mention something with a believable premise). If this and at least one, if not two, Law & Orders are gone, then those stuggling critical smashes like Friday Night Lights and 30 Rock (the superior SNL-ish show) will have room to grow. I'm glad both have been renewed, but I'm hoping for more than a 6-episode order of FNL. They need to place it after Deal or No Deal and move Heroes to 10, which actually has a chance against CSI: Miami. If only NBC had the scheduling skill of ABC.

In the meantime, we still have plenty of episodes to savor starting next week. (James, I'll answer YOU later. :) )

Golly, James, tell us how you really feel about Studio 60 ;). I'm not sure what problem you had with the show's premise, but to each his own.

As for Friday Night Lights, the article I'm looking at just says it was renewed, so I assume/hope that means it got a full season. As for Law & Order, the Original is gone until winter, and Criminal Intent has been exiled to the USA network (I would have thought Bravo, since they've been airing the past seasons, but what do I know about scheduling for NBC networks? Come to think about it, what do the suits at NBC know about it?)

NBC will be keeping Heroes at 9 pm, but another sci-fi show will be in the 10 pm slot, which at least makes for a better night of viewing. Although there are several places to lay blame for Studio 60's demise, none of the shows that were scheduled after Heroes had a darn thing to do with Heroes, so there was effectively no lead-in. At least next year those two shows should draw similar audiences.

But regardless of our difference of opinion on the quality of Studio 60, I definitely agree with you 100% on NBC's lack of scheduling prowess.
