Maura Tierney Will Face Cancer on 'Rescue Me'

When the final season of Rescue Me premieres next month, Maura Tierney will return to face an all-too-familiar scenario.

According to TV Guide, her recurring character, Kelly McPhee, will battle cancer. In 2009, Tierney came forward to announce that she was treating her own breast cancer. As a result, she dropped out of the NBC drama, Parenthood. Lauren Graham then took over her role.

Rescue Me just wrapped its sixth season. The seventh and final season will start on FX in 2011.

Another thing that's wrapped is Tierney's cancer treatment. She will return to TV on ABC's The Whole Truth starting Wednesday, September 22, 2010.
