The Office: Ben Franklin

”karen.jpg"Phyllis is finally becoming Mrs. Bob Vance -- of Vance Refrigeration. It was yet another good reason for Dunder-Mifflin to break out the party hats.

At Packer's suggestion, Michael decided to get strippers for each of the male and female parties -- and I use the term "party" loosely. The 2:30 to 3:15 celebration almost rivals the 15 minutes set aside to celebrate the caddies in "Caddyshack."

The planning was actually more entertaining than either actual party. Instead of getting a stripper, Jim called in Ben Franklin to entertain the ladies. Dwight did a better job, actually getting someone better looking -- and from this century.

Classic moment: When Ryan and Michael were in the sex shop, I thought I was going to have a seizure from all of the pixelated movie covers.

The guys treated the stripper like she had a third nipple (although that might work well in this profession). Instead, they had her answer the phones.

Over at the girls' party, it turned out that Ben Franklin was a better bargain. He not only was insanely knowledgeable, but he was also a bit creepy -- and it wasn't just the outfit and wig.

As usual, Michael turned the situation into a personal tragedy. He was constantly putting his foot in his mouth in this episode, from his plans for the GAI ("gay") guy bridal shower to his man meat -- to pulling Jan out of a meeting to confess his 1-minute lap dance. However, this is the guy that made a video for a son that he doesn't even have, just in case he manages to shock himself again while cleaning gunk off his outlets.

Despite the party, the real highlight was the series of uncomfortable exchanges in the Karen/Jim/Pam bizarre love triangle. Karen confronted Pam, who wasn't exactly reassuring of her non-feelings for Jim. And Pam made a comment to Ryan about setting her up, which seemed to really stomp on Jim's sandcastle of dreams. Karen announcing to Packer and the rest of the office that she was, in fact, Jim's girlfriend, as well as the big workday hug seemed to set her uncertainty in stone too. How long will these two kids last?

Next week, Phyllis gets married. Is a catfight coming? Are Michael and Jan going to make a public appearance as a couple? Will Roy admit that he still loves Pam, as well as her art? Will Meredith take full advantage of the open bar? And will Andy return? Stay tuned. -- Rachel Cericola
