Much to my surprise and delight, Ed Helms has been promoted from "Office" special guest star to regular cast member.
Despite his absence on this week's episode, the former "Daily Show" correspondent and current "Office" suck-up will settle down in Scranton -- at least for the rest of this season, says Zap2It. Helms plays Andy Bernard, who isn't as good as brown-nosing as he thinks he is.
Helms, who worked alongside "Office" star Steve Carell on Comedy Central, will also join him on the big screen in this summer's "Evan Almighty." Looks like someone might be pledging the Frat Pack!
No word on what's in store for Rashida Jones. The current Karen/Jim/Pam love triangle doesn't make it seem like she's got longevity, but neither did Helms about a week ago.
"The Office" airs every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. (EST) on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola
