How could the US version of "The Office" possibly get any better? By having creator Ricky Gervais pen an upcoming episode.
The BBC News says that Gervais and his cowriter Stephen Merchant will write an upcoming episode for Steve Carell and his cohorts. The two serve as executive producers, but have yet to write any episodes.
I know many people don't seem to want to give the US version a chance, but it undoubtedly gets funnier every week. Rainn Wilson ("Six Feet Under") is worth watching alone. Someone is tuning in though; that's why NBC recently announced they were picking it up for another season.
No word on when the Gervais/Merchant episode will air. "The Office" airs every Thursday at 9:30 p.m. (EST) on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola
