Mad Men Fodder

'Mad Men' Returns Tonight!

After almost a full 8 months since we saw the formation of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, AMC's critically acclaimed show Mad Men is back for it's 4th season tonight at 10PM. Welcome back, we missed you!!

The season finale brought huge changes to our favorite ad agency and I look forward to seeing what creator Matthew Weiner does with a clean slate.

When we last saw Don Draper and the gang they just staged an epic coup and formed their own company before Sterling Cooper being sold and dismantled. As they set up shop at the Pierre Hotel, Don surveys the situation and all feels right. Or does it? We also saw Betty flying to Reno with Henry Francis and baby Gene and I could only wonder what her fate is.

So, what can we expect for the highly anticipated 13 episode season?

Nobody's giving away much but Jon Hamm says; "The new season is kind of about taking things away from people, things that have defined them for the majority of their adult lives, and what are the consequences. I think it's about reinventing in many ways, and, as we know, Don is pretty good at reinventing himself."

Matt Weiner is typically tight lipped about the season but says; "For Don, most notably, he has lost his coordinates. He fought very hard for an identity that was defined by wealth, marriage, children, location, a certain kind of job, and that has been stripped away. "He might start looking inward, I think. I felt the theme of, 'Who am I?' ... I thought this man might have to confront what that means, especially someone who has constructed who they are."

One thing is for certain, the changes we saw last year are for real so don't expect Weiner to say "just kidding" and have everyone go back to business as usual. Sounds good to me!

The show recently picked up 17 Emmy nominations and all signs point to this being the biggest season yet and with all the changes and great cast chemistry I'm sure we won't be disappointed.

If you haven't already, make sure you check out the Kiernan Shipka interview I did with little Sally Draper in January. And for more fun check out the LA Times Top 10 Unsolved Mad Men Mysteries.

As always be sure to check out my reviews and recaps of each episode all season long! I look forward to hearing from all of you!!
