Another "Scrubs" Star Out

The cast of "Scrubs" is getting a lot smaller.

Actress Judy Reyes is the latest to announce her plans to leave the long-running sitcom.

Reyes, who plays nurse and mom Carla Espinosa, says the eighth season will be her last. Star Zach Braff and creator Bill Lawrence are also planning exits.

So does this seem like the end? How many more must leave?

According to Buddy TV, the show plans to bring in a lot of new faces, who will then carry the show's torch. Um... ok. That has to work at some point, right? Still, they could have some backup. There's no word on the show's other actors, including Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, or Reyes' on-screen counterpart, Donald Faison.

"Scrubs" spent seven seasons on NBC. The eighth season will be its first on ABC. -- Rachel Cericola

Michael Phelps Hosts "SNL" Premiere

While all of the Olympics action may seem like a distant memory, NBC is still trying to get its money's worth. The network just announced that gold medalist and world record holder Michael Phelps will host the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live."

The show will also have musical guest Lil Wayne, a Phelps favorite.

A pregnant Amy Poehler is expected to appear this season, as well as regulars Seth Meyers, Darrell Hammond, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Kenan Thompson, Kristen Wiig, and Casey Wilson.

The premiere will be the first of four live shows in a row. Expect a total of seven before the program gets derailed by election fever. If that's not enough for you, "SNL" will also make a few regularly scheduled stops in NBC's primetime schedule. Expect to see "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" in the former "Scrubs" timeslot. Three live half-hour episodes will kick off on October 9.

The 34th season of "Saturday Night Light" will premiere September 13 on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola

Fox Goes Back to School for Season Premieres

According to MovieWeb, when "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Fringe" debut their season premieres this fall, Fox will also be unrolling those same premieres online simultaneously. Called "simul-streams," the shows will be available to watch online at the same time as their network television debuts. In addition, the online airings will also include behind-the-scenes footage and music videos.

But before you fanboys start salivating about the prospect of watching exclusive interviews with "Terminator" star Summer Glau, there's a catch: the content will only be available to students on college campuses using an internet connection that has a college internet domain (.edu). Guess that means everyone else will have to wait for the DVDs.

Fox will air "Terminator" on Monday, September 8 at 8 p.m., followed by the debut of J.J. Abrams' "Fringe" on Tuesday, September 9 at 8 p.m. --Chris Sardelli

Denise Richards Show Axed

It seems that Charlie Sheen has many things to celebrate these days.

First, we got the announcement that he and wife Brooke Mueller are expecting a new baby. Now, OK! Magazine says that Denise Richards' reality show has been cancelled.

Zing!

"Denise Richards: It's Complicated" premiered on May 26 to 1.5 million viewers. Since then, the show has pretty much gone down the toilet. Speaking of which: Viewers seemed turned off by Richards' salty language. It didn't seem to hurt the Osbournes though, did it? We're guessing that her life wasn't complicated enough; it was just unwatchable.

Richards took Sheen to court last year, winning rights to have the couple's children appear on the show.

There's no word on whether or not E! will burn off remaining episodes or if the cancellation is effective immediately. According to the E! website, two replays are scheduled to air this Sunday. -- Rachel Cericola

TBS Wants to "Meet the Browns"

TBS will soon be adding another Tyler Perry sitcom to its lineup, says Hollywood.com. "Meet the Browns" is based on and will include characters from the 2008 hit movie. David Mann will reprise his role as Leroy Brown. The series kicks off with Brown inheriting a broken-down house from his deceased father.

The network placed a 10-episode order. Perry will serve as executive producer and director, and occasionally write an episode or two. He'll be plenty busy working on his next big-screen effort, "The Family That Preys," which will debut this fall.

"American Idol" Adds 4th Judge

When "American Idol" premieres its next season, we should see a slightly more coherent female judge in Kara DioGuardi.

Fox just announced (via People) that the Grammy-nominated songwriter will join the show as its fourth judge. I wonder if that means no celebrity judges this season. That seems like an awful lot of feedback.

Apparently, the show originally wanted to have four judges. Now, with ratings dropping slightly, it might be a good time to shake things up.

"We are turning the heat up on 'Idol' this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," said creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."

Does that mean she is the female version of Simon?

CBS Looking to Leave "Swingtown?"

The white whale drank some bad plankton and splashed through a coffee table and now it's your turn to take the helm."

Aside from his big-screen career, Slater also had a brief stint on "Alias." Of course, he didn't get to kick much ass in that role. Alfre Woodard is also on board for this one, making it that much more interesting. Take a peek below and you decide.

Valerie Bertinelli Gets a Sitcom

Who knew that Valerie Bertinelli would parlay her Jenny Craig stint into something other than a rockin' bod?

Variety says that the classic TV star has signed on to star in a new TBS sitcom. The untitled comedy will feature Bertinelli as a single mom running her own business. It's inspired by writer/executive producer Dave Caplan's own experiences -- not the single mom part, obviously.

Caplan's credits include "The Drew Carey Show," "George Lopez," and "The Bill Engvall Show." Judging by his track record, shouldn't they just call the thing "The Valerie Bertinelli Show?"

Bertinelli is a two-time Golden Globe winner. She's best recognized for her TV work on "One Day at a Time" and "Touched by an Angel." Recently, she has been starring in Lifetime movies, pimping Jenny Craig, and even had a best-selling bio, "Losing It â€" and Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time." According to TBS, she also has a talk show development deal in the works.

"Valerie Bertinelli became a popular fixture on television playing one of two children being raised by a single working mother," said Michael Wright, one of TNT's many senior VPs. "Now she's exploring that world from the opposite angle, playing a single working mother raising two children."

There's no word on other costars or when the show is expected to start production. -- Rachel Cericola

The Emmy-winning actor will replace regular William Petersen, who recently announced he would leave the show after the upcoming season's 10th episode. Petersen has been with the drama since its debut in 2000.

Fishburne has appeared in films such as "21," "What's Love Got to Do with It," "Apocalypse Now," and "The Matrix" trilogy. On "CSI," he will star as a doctor/scientist outsider who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer.
Days of our Lives - Kayla and Patch's Baby Stolen

Roman tells Abe that the seventh floor is completely inaccessible because it seems to be sealed with a lockdown mechanism. Nobody thinks it is a coincidence that Stefano is up there as well but Abe says that he is in a coma. Lexie tells them that this is no longer the case.

Stefano and Tony argue and fight and Tony attacks him with a wrench only it turns out that it's not Stefano, it's John. John seems displeased.

We apparently go back two days for this one: we see Sami tripping EJ who briefly looks like Stefano and when she realizes what she did she freaks out. She tells him that he has to be okay. Somehow the power of opening up his shirt gets his eyes to open. She says that she can't imagine her life without him and of course he questions that only to have her say that she doesn't want to discuss it.

Sami tells him that Lucas dropped her because of just one tiny little thing. She says that she can't change how she feels about him and has to stop lying to herself.

Tony finds Anna passed out and has to wake her up with a kiss. Anna goes to Marlena's room where Marlena tries to indicate the syringe holds the key to making her better but Anna just doesn't get it.

While John tries to get things going in the power room, Stefano tells him over the loudspeaker that he was a bad soldier and that he will reboot him and complete his metamorphosis.

Kayla and Patch are startled that their baby is gone. You can guess that Stefano was stolen.

"Office" Star Faces Drug Charges

Craig Robinson, star of NBC's "The Office," is facing felony drug charges. There are conflicting reports of whether he's looking at two or three charges. However, the AP says he was allegedly found with MDMA, also known as ecstasy, and methamphetamine.

It's a bummer because the guy's career is currently on fire. Aside from the hit sitcom, he stole his brief scene in last year's "Knocked Up." He's also currently lighting up the screen in "Pineapple Express." According to IMDB.com, Robinson also has four projects coming up, including Kevin Smith's "Zack and Miri Make a Porno."

Days of our Lives - Marlena Can't Move

Roman has a good talk with Philip about the situation in the hospital and how even though everyone is being told that it is a security malfunction, it is very clearly not a simple security malfunction.

Stefano tells Marlena that he isn't going to kill her and that he has something more interesting in mind for her. Marlena apologizes for what she did to him and he tells her that it is far too late. He says that he wanted to make her dreams come true. He finds the syringe left behind by Kayla and contemplates injecting her with it. She hopes he will do it and he of course does not as the lights flicker.

John, Tony, and Anna try to figure out the power room for their floor. Tony tells her not to touch anything. Anna goes off to find Stefano and manages to find his empty room. She is startled by him. Meanwhile, Tony and John discuss the relationship that he had with Marlena and how that upset Stefano.

Stefano and Marlena somewhat argue. By this I mean that Stefano did most of the talking and she mumbled from time to time. He shows her the disc that she thought was fixed and was in fact still broken. He says it is beyond repair.

Tony has an imaginary argument with Stefano. This is chiefly because he thinks that Stefano is there but he is not.

Marlena calls out for help but there is nobody there.

Days of our Lives - Hallucinations in Salem University Hospital

The situation at the hospital is naturally getting out of control as the entire seventh floor is sealed and the hospital itself is in lockdown. They can't even figure it out on the local television news. Evidently, people's phones don't even work.

Kayla goes off to find her husband who is trashing a room for no apparent reason. Maybe the toxic gas that is coming out of the vents has something to do with it. Steve finally finds what he is looking for in the form of an oxygen tank for his baby.

Tony and Anna talk about the gas and Anna thinks that Stefano is trying to kill them all. John wonders if Tony knows where Stefano might be hiding. John, incidentally, seems to be immune from the effects of the gas.

Stefano finds Sami in the hallway. He tells her that he won't hurt her if she only will cooperate. He says that he has nothing but the best to offer her son and that she and EJ should be together forever. She is not chuffed to hear this offer. Sami says that her son will grow up to be a strong and decent man. She then tells him to go to hell and flees.

Chloe freaks out because the gas causes her to hallucinate that she has bacteria eating at her face. Of course, Lucas is the one to talk her off of that ledge.

Sami sees Stefano in the stairwell; he is calling out her name. He suddenly turns into EJ and she trips him as he tries to walk down. When he gets to the bottom in a most Ford Decker way she yells at him and tells him to die. This is of course before she notices that he is not Stefano.

Days of Our Lives: Kayla Possibly Has the Antidote

John wants to go and have a chat with Stefano but EJ tells him that it would be a total waste of time.

Tony and Anna argue with Stefano about what happened to Marlena. Stefano gets a little 'fresh' as they say with Anna and Tony yells at him, "You're talking about my wife!" Stefano is less than pleased to hear that. Naturally, John walks in during this kerfuffle and sees that talking with Stefano would not be a waste of time as he is awake.

John asks Stefano what he did to Marlena and he gives the standard DOOL response. Everybody say it with me: "I have no idea what you are talking about." John asks him one more time. Stefano says that he has no bargaining chips and didn't even kill him when he had the chance. John tells him how Stefano's plan to have Colleen eliminated was a wash and she died surrounded by her friends and family. They sure do like reusing scripts.

Stefano wonders if John reckons he is the savior of Salem and he says that he is simply his enemy, and so Stefano's enemies are therefore John's friends. This is when he tells Stefano that EJ is his lawyer.

A crowd has gathered in Marlena's room, where Patch wonders what happened. Kayla tells him that she was injected with some sort of paralyzing toxin. Marlena slurs Stefano's name. Well that sounds like "j'accuse!" to me. Kayla goes off somewhere and when she comes back she announces that the technicians are stopping what they are doing to work on Marlena's tests.

Sami and EJ argue about what side he is on because he seems to be siding with Stefano, perhaps even feeling sorry for the formerly paralyzed man.

Marlena tries to tell them what was injected into her and what the cure would be and how she will soon not be able to move or even speak. A bit later, Tony goes to see her and she admits what she did and that she did it to protect the family. Very DiMera of her, Tony observes.

John decides that the time is right to kill Stefano so he grabs his neck and it takes Patch to save Stefano's life. Yep, Patch to save his life, of all people.

At the same time, a noxious gas starts coming out of all the various vents on the floor of the hospital where all of this is taking place. Coincidentally, Stefano is nowhere to be seen. Also coincidentally, it happens right before Kayla has time to inject Marlena with something she considers to possibly be an antidote. Funny, that.

Tori Spelling Out of "90210"

For a minute there, it looked like all of the girls from "90210" were going to have one big slumber party. Now, it looks like there's a pretty nasty pillow fight looming.

Tori Spelling has pulled out of The CW's reincarnation of "90210." Apparently, the actress is peeved because she would not be getting the same paycheck as her former costars Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty.

The TV Guy says Spelling signed on for about half of what her costars will be making -- for $20,000 per episode. She asked for more cash, but didn't get it. Spelling had previously expressed her excitement in the project, as well as the return of Doherty. There's still time for the network to pony up the dough, though.

"90210" premieres September 2 at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on The CW. -- Rachel Cericola
She says that she is terrified of him and he tells her that there is no reason to be concerned. He says that he is going to find Marlena. They decide to go to their townhouse but are stopped short because John's tires were cut. On the plus side, he has a motorcycle. She worries that her heels will get caught in the 'peg thingies.'

Tony and EJ tell Stefano that Marlena couldn't have done anything to hurt him and he says that he is going to destroy her. This is just when Sami comes in to ask what he has done to her mother. They argue and Sami is taken out by EJ, who assures her that she just hasn't been heard from in a few hours and that is not a crisis. She says that Stefano has some evil plot and she will find it. They argue about this of course.

Tony says that if something happened to Marlena, the authorities wouldn't have a long list of suspects. He tells him that he's a big believer in 'an eye for an eye'. Naturally he only understands that phrase in the literal sense and not in the fiscal sense that the rabbis intended. Stefano says that he is clearly not being loyal and explains that Marlena injected him with drugs whereas he could see and hear anything but not move. Not only that, but he heard his children talking about moving him into a "hideous medieval facility."

Marlena languishes on the ground. It's fortunate that soon, Anna and John come in and Anna calls for an ambulance. Soon, Sami and EJ come in. John does CPR on her and she wakes up. Soon, Kayla is there to save the day. She also yells at John for the way he was behaving at the wedding ceremony. She says he's clearly good on the inside because he saved Marlena's life. Sami thanks John for saving her mother's life and says that they will now stop waiting for the old John to come back. He says he will hold her to it. (Cue the old John coming back in 3...2...)

At the hospital, just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water... er, something like that... dark gas starts coming out of one of the vents.

Now, the AP is reporting that the comedian has died. He was 50.

Mac died early this morning due to complications from pneumonia. He had also suffered from sarcoidosis, a respiratory disease; he previously said he was in remission.

The actor's resume includes "Bad Santa," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "Guess Who," "Transformers," and the "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy. He also spent five seasons on TV, in Fox's "The Bernie Mac Show." According to IMDB.com, he was currently working on four other projects, including the TV program "Starting Under," which had not yet been picked up.

"Bernie Mac was a gifted talent whose comedy came from an authentic and highly personal place. He was a tremendous live performer and a wonderful actor," the Fox network said in a statement. "Fox was proud to be the home of "The Bernie Mac Show," and all of us at Fox and 20th Century Fox Television extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Rhonda and daughter JeNiece."
