General Hospital: Laura Breaks the News to Her Children

11-20-06
Sonny plays Russian roulette with Ric’s life. They argue. I’m usually pretty bored when Sonny’s on the screen so I’m moving on to the most important things.

Laura tells her children that she’s known for a while that something was a little off. They have to make the most of the little time that they do have. She tells them that they are strong and together they can survive this situation. She tells them how to prepare for life without her. She wants them to be sure that they know that she’s at peace. She won’t be aware of anything around her but to think of it as a rest for her. God, this is killing me. Lulu asks her, “Don’t you want us to come see you?” “Only if it makes you feel better,” Laura replies.

Now on to the situation with Elizabeth and Jason. Now this is the stuff soap operas are made of. Forget mobsters, being on the lam and gunfire. This is the juicy stuff. I’m starting to really get into this storyline. Here’s hoping against all hope that he hears her through the fog of pain that he’s in. He doesn’t want her to call an ambulance. He tells her he trusts her and that they can do this together. Hmmm, Elizabeth looks like she weighs 99 pounds wet. I really don’t see her carrying him to her car and then wherever they decide to hide out. All the while he’s losing blood and close to death. Somehow, Jason musters up the strength to get up and make it to Elizabeth’s old studio. Man, I remember those days! She tries her best to patch him up. Jason seriously looks like he’s on death’s door. He looks positively gray. He begs her to get the bullet out of his leg. Pain? I know no such thing, I’m Jason the invincible. Will the fact that Elizabeth has told him that the baby is his keep him alive? Assuming that he even heard her that is. I am crossing my fingers!

Alexis take her baby home. Kristina seems to be in shock over the traumatizing events that she’s witnessed. Poor baby. What a birthday, huh?

Sam has taken Diego’s life. I suppose it was self defense like she said, but still. It leaves me with an icky feeling about her. More than I had before. Let me explain my feelings about Sam. I don’t really care about her one way or the other. Sometimes she can be really whiny and annoying to me. But I like the actress Kelly Monaco. I’ve seen her on several talk shows and like her as a person and I think she’s doing great with what she’s being given. I just really hate this story line she involved in. I would really like it a lot if they gave her her own life. She seems to be living through the men she’s attached to. Sonny, Jax, Jason, etc.

Carly and Sonny kiss! They get so caught up in the moment of happiness that Jason is alive that they embrace and kiss. That was the last thing I would have guessed would happen.

I also would like to say that I really enjoyed the beautiful, sad and quite fitting song by Joni Mitchell, "Both Sides". It really suited the moment.

I always miss the really good days AND don't have them taped! Thanks for the recap. I saw some - a bit of the Laura stuff and it was great - she's an amazing actress and I did see grayJason (the makeup people did a great job!)

So - a music montage? And Sonny and Carly kiss? I used to loooooooooooove Sonny and still like him but not like I used to. I did love the "I let you live because you're my mother's son" stuff.

Liz and Jason! Great couple. They were giving some explanation about how she still has the studio - but I didn't catch it. Dontcha just love those casual information conversations when one person is half-dead from a bullet wound and blood loss and the other's in a party dress?
As you said though - they are a soaplover's dream. I'm looking forward to their storyline.

I don't feel the same way as you about KM. I do agree that they give her no life/identity apart from the men she's with - they did that with Carly at the beginning but then had her morph into a professional. (Man - wouldn't it be great if it were that easy in reallifeland?)

I will say I was shocked that they killed Diego off. Especially now that they cleaned him up and he looked so good. There were so many ways his character could have gone and been good - the Maxie storyline - the Georgie storyline... I actually thought they'd make it one of those soapdeaths where we find out he's really alive. Or maybe - his mama had twins and gave one away because she couldn't take care of him without Alcazar to help and he'll come back - kind of like what they did with Lorrrrrrrenzo.

Definitely gonna be watching today (luckily don't have a 3:00pm client today! so I'll turn on my tiny 2 inch screen and see it).

But I must say Sibia - that the recaps are half the fun of the show - keep it up!

I'm enjoying writing these more and more. I used to love Sonny as well. Maybe they will give him an interesting storyline. Looks like they will with the whole Carly kiss.

I have some days where I like Sam and others where I don't. The only thing that remains the same is that I think KM is a great actress.

OK.. Did I miss it??? Did we know from the begining that Lauras' drug would only last awile??? I was in h.s.when Luke & Laura firat got married.. What a wonderful time..Howwver.. to bring her back was a great idea.. but the way they did it with the drug now wearing off... TERRIBLE!!!
I like Jason & Liz together.. I agree about Sam.. Writters ruined her.. I don't care what happens.. Rummers she is going to Desp. Hsewvs..???
You know Carly was going to get back with Sonny.. Jax.. Well.. that poor soul. How could you not feel sorry for him??? Alexis is my thought..
I guess with Deigo..His Papa will be after Sam.. Wouldn't it be funny if Sam & Jason went on the run... Like Luke & Laura in the 80's. That would be FUNNY!!!
