General Hospital: Hope Springs Eternal for Luke and Laura

This episode was full of hope but not enough to make it interesting. It had its moments, but my mind kept wondering off and I got distracted easily by my email. Not good. I hope that it heats up for sweeps.

Laura proposes to Luke. It was a great scene. The chemistry is still on between them, it’s like she never left. I have to give it up to both Genie and Tony for being such great actors. Working together for all these years has only made them better in my eyes. Luke feels that Laura is his soul but he doesn’t want to rush into things. Not to mention the fact that he needs to get a divorce from ol’ ball and chain, Tracy Quartermaine, first! Laura’s afraid that his feelings for her have changed since the four years have passed. To her it’s like four years ago was yesterday. What an odd feeling that would be. They talk about it for a little while and he agrees to remarry her. He tells her that he bought her a ring two years ago on her birthday. Laura sees that as a sign that he had known that this day would come.

The Spencer family decides to continue with the lie they are telling Laura. I think that this is a very bad idea. I have the feeling this will not turn out the way that they hope it will. I mean, eventually the truth is going to come out. Why not just get it done with now? How will she feel knowing that her family has lied to her? I understand about Laura’s delicate mental situation but I really think that through some intense therapy she can work through it. The last time it was just Luke trying to get her to face the past. Luke is hardly a trained professional. Tracy pops in on their family meeting just in time to hear about Luke and Laura’s engagement. Ooops. Let’s see if she’ll give Luke a divorce. My guess is no. Just to spite him.

Sonny and Jax start acting like macho idiots with a high stakes bet. The ultimate metaphoric prize being Carly I suppose. She sees through this and tells Sonny that no matter what he bets she will not leave Jax for him. She starts to leave them both there when they begin to consider betting the coffee plantation and the Metrocourt but is interrupted by a call from Michael. He is not feeling well and wants her to come home. Yet another Corinthos trying to ruin Jax and Carly’s evening.

Uh-oh. The big “L” word popped out of Patrick’s lips. In a kind of backwards way. He’s angry that she recommended he not perform a surgery. And then during the surgery she suggested some sort of shortcut. So out of surgery he’s yelling at her telling her that she shouldn’t presume that she can tell him how to do his job just because he loves her. Not as romantic as most girls dream of but very fitting coming out of his mouth.

Is anyone else a little uncomfortable with Sam and Jason picking up Lila Rae. That’s a big no-no for me; picking up someone else’s child without permission. Especially the child of your enemy. It kinda creeps me out. And how the heck did they manage to even get into the house? Don’t you think that since Alcazar is a known gangster that his house would be like a fortress? Guards, alarms and all that?

Just suspend your common sense during the hour you watch General Hospital because nothing is making sense anymore!

Hi Sibia - Thanks for the recap. I can't believe I was so bored with the epi that I shut it before the Patrick/Robin scene you recapped. I think I still have it - I'll try and watch it tonight.

I didn't see that scene with JaSam picking up the baby but that is creepy. For all the reasons you mentioned. I don't think Jason would hurt a baby but it's still creepy.

I think today is supposed to be an ILY day for Patrick and Robin - that's what people are "spoiling" but who knows? At this point I feel like telling him to head for the hills as far as she's concerned.

Random thought - I guess the HIV thing draws them together (in an "us against the world" kind of thing) but what will happen when his final test comes back? Hmmmmm.

I think you're right. Once the final test comes back, what will they have to talk about all the time?

They will probably show it again in the next episode. GH loves to show cliffhanger scenes like that over again in the next one just in case you may have missed it. I guess so that it makes more sense too.
