General Hospital: Sam Goes Back to Work

Ok, so, I missed the first 10 minutes of the Soapnet rerun but I don’t think that I missed much.

Luke, along with the children, gently tries to tell Laura what happened to her. He left out the more traumatizing parts though. She asks her children to tell her about their lives now. Nikolas tells her of his baby, Spencer, and gives her a picture. “I went to sleep a bride, I woke up a grandmother,” she says. It’s strange and kinda cool to hear the storylines of the past being told to her. I tend to forget about all the outlandish stuff that has happened.

With no other alternative, Alexis allows Sonny to take her children. She finally tells Jax about Sam and Ric. I hope that Jax will be there for Alexis. She has no one else. I would say she has Nikolas, but he’s got his hands full with a baby, his mother out of her comatose state, and the creepy nanny. He’s a busy boy. I used to ship Alexis and Jax. So this makes me happy to see them in a scene together. They have a really great rapport. She later gets a visit from Jason. He asks her if she can ever forgive Sam. She turns the question back on him. Come to think of it, I think that Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has great chemistry with everyone. She’s just a great actress.

Sam and Jason discuss how she is going to become independent again. I think this is good. I like to see her trying to take responsibility for herself. She has a tendency to care too much about what everyone else thinks of her instead of just trying to love and respect herself. She tells Jason that she needs to figure things out, find herself, before she can be in a relationship.

Jason runs into Elizabeth at the docks. She’s feeling sorry for herself because it is her first wedding anniversary and she feels like a failure since her marriage is on the rocks. She’s sad because she’s sure that he’s forgotten all about it.

Of course he hasn’t. Lucky tells Laura all about getting married, that he’s a cop, and that Elizabeth’s going to have a baby. Laura turns to Lulu and says, “Leslie Lu, please don’t tell me you aren't going to make me a grandmother too.” Awkward.

Sam returns to work at the police station. This is going be tricky. Ric, the man she had an affair with, is the interim DA and Jason, the love of her life, leads a life of crime. Where else but the soaps? Ric runs into her and harasses her for a little while. Then, he gets a mysterious package. What could it be?

Luke tells Robert Scorpio about the situation with Laura. He’s worried about breaking all the bad news of their lives to her. Not to mention the fact that he’s technically married to Tracy. Luke confesses that even though it’s been four years, he hasn’t really moved on from Laura. He’s afraid that he will fall in love with her all over again. I don’t see the problem. Other than the obvious divorce that must be taken care of. They are the GH super-couple. They belong together!

Carly and Jax have a mushy moment then get caught by Sonny and the kids making out. Jax had saved her from the zoo of kids that Sonny had abandoned her with. She questions why he isn’t worried about her staying with Sonny to help take care of all of the kids. He tells her he trusts her. In the words of Lelaina in Reality Bites, “Welcome to the world of emotional maturity!” It’s nice here. Please let this be a long visit.
