Ahhh...now that's a good way to start a GH week. My Scropios..Anna, Robert and Robin...are back together again...and this time they are all in Port Charles. When's the last time that happend? Early 90's for sure! It put a smile on my face for the whole show. You get that old school feeling when you have Anna and Robert together on screen. I don't know how to really explain it (great for a blog, huh?)other than its that easy going familiarity that you can feel. Even better is the fact we're not dealing with some stupid island. Anna's back in town on a mission and it involves local badboy, Lorenzo Alcazar. Oooooh, boy! Finally Ted King is going to be given a chance to shine this summer. He's been in the back seat far too long to Sonny and Jason...which is stupid. We all know Lord of the Bling could mop the floor with Sonny's head. (and get to those tough corners with Jason's) I'm oh so looking forward to Anna and Lorenzo's first official meeting. Robert's jealousy won't be far behind, either. These guys feel like an actual family Love it!
Leslie Lu is now a woman. Very soon she'll be bringing home the bacon...fryin' it up in a pan....and never never never let Dillon forget he's a man. Ok...maybe not. I was hoping Leslie Lu was really ok with how her first time went...just because it would have been a nice (and realistic) change of pace. But Lu's feeling mighty guilty about what she and Diego did...not to mention that Dillon is still in love with Georgie. Guess the planning was easier than the execution. Still grossed out that they did it where Diego and Georgie supposedly did it. I know they didn't...but Dillon doesn't.
Honestly...I fast forwarded a lot of the Carly/Sonny stuff. This heart to heart/Dr. Phil session has gone on long enough. I saw what I needed to see on Friday. Let's move on...
Ok...I like Jason, I do...but sometimes the pimping is just too much. First Liz acts like a banshee to distract the bumbling badges while Jason escapes. Then...her HUSBAND, a cop catches Jason yet she convinces him to break the law "because Jason is the only one that can save Sam". Only in Port Charles are the criminals always right and law enforcement is just there to make them look good. Sam....you're a big dummy. You stop to use a telephone?!?!? Hello! You deserve a tattoo on "the twins" just for that dumb move.
I love me a montage! There are as soapy as interrupted wedings and who's the daddy storylines. I wish I could feel sorry for Lu..but I don't. (and I don't like it when I can't sympathize with a favorite character...dammit!) I do feel sorry for Georgie. She deserves better than Dillon....and Diego. Poor Alexis. She's getting blamed from every direction and nobody realizes she's just trying to find her daughter. Awwww...Robin and Patrick. He is so whipped! heh...I love it! I was hoping Robert would put the fear of WSB in him with threats of bodily harm...but his look back during the montage was worth it. And Jason....now wha'cha gonna do?
Can't wait for tomorrow's show! I doubt we'll be seeing folks down in the park watching fireworks like in the good ole days...but there should be some at the hospital!
*moves the barware out of the way*
Yep...tis me. Maybe it's a subliminal vacation vibe?
When you mentioned Carly being a ho I remember thinking pretty much the same thing during the show..."that's Carly"...Still not really standing on her own two feet.
Still just playing the week by ear...since we have more Anna coming up...I'm sure I'll catch tomorrow's show at some point.
Happy 4th!
Yay!!! I was really happy to read your take on it - don't mess up the vaca but know that your devoted fans are out here waiting to hear you talk the talk!
I also forgot the Sam-using-the-phone thing - uh- hellooooooooo - you're kidnapped and being tattooed and other torture-type activities and you stop to use the phone??????? I'm surprised she didn't wait til someone walked by and she could ask for a quarter or the right extention for 'help'. "Uh - excuse me, are you one of Manny's guys? No. Great - could you tell me if I have to dial 9 for an outside line or can I get help for my kidnapping from someone inside the hospital? Thanks."
I will give the writers credit for the Patrick and Robin dialogue and scenes. Really good and authentic stuff - sure it's a soap and the days of 'dad' talking to the guy who's upsetting his daughter went the way of the pay phone Sam could have used - but - notwithstanding - the stuff that Patrick said was good.
Very insightful - too insightful really for him to be thinking at the moment but I think the thing I like about some of the GH dialogue is that they give voice to some very interesting stuff that goes on internally - stuff that the characters might not even know but - the writers make them know it. And since dialogue is another of my "things" I give them credit for not making a lot of it very heavy handed.
Could I possibly really spend this much time on GH? Sometimes even I find it hard to believe about myself - but like I always tell friends "everything leads back to GH".
Happy 4th - and if you go into sub-basement 4 at GH bring along an extra cell phone - Manny pulled the phone out of the wall so if Sam gets to escape again she'll have to borrow one.

Manny's dead (perhaps - in soapland one can never be too sure)
Sam cried. Robin and "the girls" emoted. Liz looked longingly at Jason (hey Liz - who's your daddy?).
On the positive side - Anna and Lorenzo have excellent chemistry.
Here's the main problem that hit me yesterday - Guza inc. do NOT know how to write women. They don't get women and don't know how to write them - and I think that may be why their numbers are falling.
Robin being so ok - seconds after this guy she's falling in love with (after a drought that would make the Grapes of Wrath look luscious!) tells her it's over? I don't think so. Where's the loss of appetite? The tears? (A couple at least). No. She's in a great mood - feeling positive and telling her parents (no less) that they're terrific. Although the fact that she's making a drastic sudden move with her apt. does indicate that something big happened - she's just too cheery about the whole thing. And moving in with Kelly - who was so busy slobbering over Patrick being available she didn't even get to eat her coconut shrimp? Not a smart move Robin.
At least Lainey is still feeling a bit sad about her loss - and dream on Lainey about hanging up your shingle when you're out of work - even Kevin Collins knew better than to believe that happens.
And the Sam shrieking - ok - they put her in a tank top - but that's for the male audience - unless that's who Guza inc. is trying to attract - but daytime? The only men I know who watch soaps don't them for the women - they're watching for the cute guys.
So that's the thing - they're just writing these women all wrong
and I just had to comment. Take your time watching yesterday's episode and enjoy the vaca.
I watched GH yesterday, probably the only time in the last year that I watched. With all due respect to all of you addicts (including my sister Sheridan), just how well adjusted can the HIV positive/just been dumped by Dr. Trousersnake/my parents are spies/kumbabaya be?
Incidentally, Lorenzo would have chemistry with anyone- but most especially me.
Also, if I were an evil tattooing mobster, I'd probably tattoo her forehead for real revenge.
Nicola (tuning out until next July 4th or maybe I'll be getting dolled up for the Nurse's Ball)

Dave - is that you? I thought you were on vaca and the tone sounds a bit different - or is it Sonny's paranoia rubbing off on me?
BTW - I think the other thing they should be looking for with Sonny is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - I don't know why I didn't realize until last week that he might be suffering from that as well as the bi-polar. But when he was having the flashbacks of the car wreck - that's typical of it. Hey Lainey! I know you're all bummed about Justus but really. Where's Kevin???? Or Huff? Damn - they're cancelling his show maybe he wants to move to Port Charles and set up his practice there. He'd have enough patients to buy an island like the rest of them have!
Love the Anna/Robert/Lorenzo stuff - she's terrific and it's about time there's a really great female character who does have an identity that doesn't seem to shift based on who she's with. Alexis is a great character but lately with this whole "my daughter, my daughter, my daughter...." it's a bit much.
Now LeslieLu what'd you go and do? I'm with you on her conflictedness - but she sure did put on a good show for Dillon.
And I just realized today that Carly is such a trailertrashho that no one bats an eyelash that she's busy jumping from one guy to the next. I mean can you imagine knowing anyone who just hopped around like that (in the open - with everyone knowing)?
And Patrick - he sure is having a bad time of it. Must be shocking those strange sensations....like the Minnie Driver line in "Grosse Pointe Blank" "what's this I'm feeling....? Is it....?" Only with Patrick it's "what the heck is this? FEELINGS? I sure as s&^t hope not - I didn't sign up for that - just a whole lot of no-strings - "
Port Charles on Independence Day. I can't believe I won't be there....I'll just have to check out the fireworks here. I sure will miss everyone...you're right - what is that feeling when you see them all and feel so familiar?
(I won't bore you with a study that was done on the actual psychological effects of watching a serialized show -not only soaps but even weekly ones. But you're on to something....)
Anyway - happy 4th - it was such a great treat and surprise to see the posting today - I checked just for the heck of it! Thanks!
