General Hospital Fodder

General Hospital: Pill Poppin'

Luckily...I don't have the anger today for the show that I had yesterday. But...I'm actually not sure if that's a good thing because I don't really feel anything for today's eppy.

I think Lucky should have played a bigger role in today's show. It could have been interesting to see one character dealing with addiction to pills while another is contemplating whether or not he should take pills for the rest of his life. But....we have to deal with what we're given...too bad, though.

This show is obviously uneven. You never know day to day what to expect. I never know if I'm going to hate characters or love them...which (like I've said before) is due to the characters being written to the story instead of the characters telling the story. Today I didn't hate Sonny. I felt a bit for his situation. Not sure I'd want to feel like a zombie, either. (I already deal with that feeling after every GH episode) But I think I'd at least give it a shot. Things can't really get worse for our resident mobster, can they? I know Em is trying to help Sonny but she's really got to loosen up a bit. Her pressuring Sonny isn't really helping the situation, ya know.

Sam and Ric. Freakin' gag me! These writers can try as hard as they like to make me understand what's going on...but it won't work. And thanks for the Dancing with the Stars flashback...not.

Sorry Liz....what you did was wrong. Jason is a criminal. He does bad things...just like Manny. If you wanted to pay Jason back for everything he's done for you...hook him up with a free stiches the next time he gets shot. Me thinks something fishy is going on behind the scenes. Maybe its the ratings...maybe its fan reaction or probably both....but I think some stuff has ended up on the cutting room floor. It was spoiled that Maxie and Lucky were supposed to sleep together yesterday. (I think it was Soap Opera Digest) But obviously that didn't happen. Or did it and it was cut? Think about the scenes today. We don't see Lucky till the very end...same for Maxie. Lucky doesn't want to sex up his wife but wants a shower. Maxie looks like she had her first O while talking to Georgie and acts like she and Lucky are a couple. I'm thinking the sex was cut. Or maybe I'm still feeling the effects of last night's Grassy Knoll Happy Hour. ;-P

Today's surprise scenes were between Alexis and Carly. Who'da thunk these two could have a civil conversation? It was a nice change of pace in a show that's in constant recycle mode.

Man...I just don't know what else to say. Its tough to watch this show spiral out of control and even harder to find something to like about it. I really need some Anna/Robert to pump me back up. That's about all I hope for between now and Laura's return in November.

What did ya'll think?

You are so good at this stuff - I knew there was stuff that was bugging me but couldn't put my finger on it (as opposed to Jason and the trigger).

One thing I had thought of was the following the story and not the characters and I think that's continuing to be the downfall of the show.

Great insight that that's why one doesn't know what to expect - are we supposed to experience Sonny's bi-polar episodes by living through them with these highs and lows of the show? One day we're laughing and loving it up the next it's all I can do to hit the ff on the remote...

Great thought about the contrast with the Lucky/Sonny stuff - very cool thought. Are you in the biz by any chance? And I thought that whole "Grassy Knoll" thing was a joke about conspiracy theories.

LOL about what Liz should give Jason to thank him but I heard rumors she might be givin' him a biiiiiiiig smile on his face - what Lucky was rumored to be giving Maxie. What happened there? I didn't even connect that it might have been cut and we were supposed to figure it out or something. Huh? They've been doing a lot of that.

I think they should stop jumping back and forth listening to the fans and listen to their characters. I think that's the real problem. No clue who these people are and what they would do in different situations....

I loved the Carly and Alexis scenes today as scenes between two concerned parents but there's not a chance in hell that RealCarly and RealAlexis would have been able to so easily get into it.

I have a confession. The other thing I do is I'm a writer. Not for soaps (but I have consulted - just not for GH even though that's the one I've been watching for years - East Coast ones). But I've worked in other mediums - theatre, movies and tv and I have to say that as far as character development on this show - aaaaargh.

Once you busted me on the one area I work in I figured what-the-hey might as well put my other hat on here too.
Which is the reason I feel soooooooo angry about how they're messing it up. There is just nooooooo excuse. Great characters, great history - so much raw material and they're doing "Dancing with the Stars" (that was hilarious I didn't even catch that until you said it)

As for "House" it's in repeats now - check it out maybe you'll like it - I'd love to hear your recaps - or Prisonbreak - how 'bout that one?

Love me some Prison Break! (esp. Wentworth!) Not sure if I'd have the time to do full on recaps, though...Heck we can discuss whatever we want in the comment section of GH so I'm sure we'll get around to dishing it.
I'm looking forward to Nip/Tuck's return Sept. 5th...and Prison Break is less than a month away...woohooo..August 21st.

Excellent!!!! I didn't know Prison Break starts so soon. I can't wait - that show is fantastic and the eye-candy don't hurt none either. Nicola (my sis who posted here a couple of times) was at the Golden Globes and said that they are actually really nice too - not that whole "don't-you-know-who-I-am?????" stuff.

Back to GH for just a sec. I watched the whole thing in order and they are totally doing some massive edits - one convo with Georgie/Ho-mewrecker was cut right in the middle - the dialogue went from lalalala to huh?

One thing I must commend the writers for and MB for his performance - is the dialogue (which goes on and on and on and on - how come Lainey didn't diagnose Sonny's Narcissism yet?)
about taking the pills. I think the greates PSA they did was when he talked about whether it's worth feeling numb and zombie-like while taking the drugs. I wish more people would think about that before just popping a pill for whatever ails them.

Oh Emily? NOT the way to get someone to start/continue treatment - if anything Jason was more helpful to him yesterday - unless Sonny took the pills so he SHOULDN'T want to be with Emily anymore :-)

Prisonbreak - can't wait - hey maybe they'll put Max or Milo away and then they'll do a Prisonbreak on GH!
