The boys will be back in 2010!
In a not so surprising move, HBO announced today that the long running hit comedy "Entourage", about fictional "A" List movie star Vincent Chase and his gang, was renewed for a 7th season. The show will be aired in the summer of 2010.
I'm sure any doubt of renewal was erased after the premiere raked in 3.4 million viewers which was the best ratings the show has received in two years. This might not seem like a huge number but apparently in the 21st century a majority of homes in America don't receive HBO. Get with the program people! Sales of the 5th season were also very strong as the Emmy nominated show has sold 275,000 units, worth $5.9 million, in three weeks. That helps . . .
Still no word on how many episodes are planned but all signs point to the regular 12 episode season. The peak production of the show was in 2007 when the 3rd season had 20 episodes and two weeks later season 4 premiered with an additional twelve. Creator Doug Ellin has often stated that he foresees the show running for eight years.
The future looks bright for "Entourage" since the show is nestled in the new HBO Sunday night powerhouse lineup which includes the smash hit True Blood and Hung, which were also renewed.
Looks like viewers better get prepared for more character growth. Like it or not!

Loved that Bluetooth headset Jawbone product placement on last week's episode. Drama made that thing look pretty cool.
