Jeremy Piven Wins Golden Globe

In an aborted Golden Globe awards ceremony last Sunday night, Jeremy Piven took home the Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for the first time for his portrayal of Ari Gold in the hit HBO show 'Entourage'. CORRECTION - - This was his first Globe win after being nominated the past three years. He has won an Emmy for the past two years running.

See the full list of winners here.

Of course the Pivster himself, like all the other actors, was not there to pick up his award in person because the gala awards ceremony was cancelled due to the writer's strike. The Globes was the first casuality of the 2008 awards season because the stars wouldn't cross the picket lines and without stars you have no fancy awards shows.

Jeremy went head to head with his co-star Kevin Dillon (Johnny Drama) in a rematch of last fall's Emmy's and once again Ari took home the gold, living up to his fictitious name.

Congrats to Jeremy on his win but how about showing some love and overdue respect for good old Johnny Drama?

By the way, wasn't the NBC "awards" show pathetic? If anyone was watching and according to the ratings, just about no one was, co-host Billy Bush said 'Entourage" was a little watched "boutique" show. This is why hosts need writers, so they don't stick a foot in their mouths.

Seeing how lame this was makes me really appreciate all the pageantry of these awards shows and I hope that the WGA strike gets settled soon as I don't think I can stomach an Oscar show like this. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
