Surprise! We all knew it already, but HBO announced on Friday that it was renewing it's flagship show, 'Entourage' for a 5th Season.
The show which has always had a cult following really exploded into the national consciousness since the beginning of the 3rd season, and it has enjoyed it's highest ratings ever this year. The Emmy nominated show was bolstered by appearing right after "The Sopranos" final episodes last spring. Earlier this summer, HBO expanded it's reach into India and South East Asia which brought an entirely new worldwide audience to the hit show.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, HBO Entertainment president Carolyn Strauss said; " 'Entourage' is a full-fledged cultural phenomenon . . . I'm delighted that we'll be bringing new seasons of these distinctive series (Also 'Flight of the Conchords') to our subscribers."
This is great news as this gives us an opportunity to see the boys evolve in many different ways which will undoubtedly lead up to some surprising and funny moments. I have always predicted that the show would end after 5 seasons so let's sit back and see what happens.
The season 4 finale shows the gang at the Cannes Film Festival in France which was shot live at this years festival. Make sure you catch 'Entourage' Sunday nights at 10 PM on HBO. The 5th season will start June 8th, 2008, which is a very long time from now. I wish HBO wouldn't do things like that.
