So, while all the other cast members of "Entourage" were enjoying their way too long 7 month hiatus in between season 3, Kevin Connolly kept himself busy directing his first feature film with his pal Leonardo DiCaprio.
Kevin's little indie film "Gardener of Eden" made it's world premiere at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Friday and is also produced by Leo.
The film stars Lukas Haas as slacker who turns into a vigilante after he accidentally saves a woman (played by Erika Christensen) from a serial killer. Sounds pretty dark, but hey, Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) makes a cameo so how dark can it be? Sign me up!
The Hollywood Reporter says that Kevin's film is a slacker cross between "Death Wish" and "Taxi Driver" and let me just say that if it's marginally better than "Death Wish" but worse than "Taxi Driver" then Connolly has made one helluva directorial debut. The review also gives major props to Connolly as a pretty good first-time director. Hmm, I wonder if he picked the brains of James Cameron and Paul Haggis when they were on the show. I definitely would . . .
Whatever the result, this film bodes well for our little "E" and I for one plan on supporting him when the film comes to a theater (pending distribution) near me. Connolly is finding his legs in real life just as his alter ego is finding his legs on the show. Way to go "E"!!!
