The Good
Mushy it may be, but “Eli Stone†brought a preverbal tear to my eye on more than one occasion. I thought the best part of the show was when Eli noticed the blue blocks that spelled “George Michaelâ€. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I raised an eyebrow when Eli agreed to represent Beth so quickly. After seeing the reason however, I thought it was a nice touch. A good, solid first episode by most accounts.
The Bad
Why is it that in every courtroom drama, the antagonist always gets their butts kicked by the protagonist in such an unrealistic fashion? Eli and Beth were losing badly and then Eli comes out with a touching final statement that snags them the win. Instead, it would be nice to see a bit of smart legal maneuvering to out fox the opposition. Also, Patti just “happened†to get her hands on some important documents that helped Eli win the case. It all seems a little too convenient and smells of lazy writing.
The Ugly
Will George Michael sing several times in every episode? I like him as much as the next guy, but it could get tiring pretty quickly. What about viewers who aren’t amongst the George Michael faithful. The writers don’t seem to understand that may alienate viewers who dislike the pop singer. It would be a shame if the show lost fans because George Michael was rammed down their throats. (No pun intended)
Trivia
What is the name of the street cars in San Francisco? I have heard them being referred to in about ten different ways.
Eli Stone visits the Panchachuli Peaks in India. Which Indian province are they located in?
Bloopers
I wasn’t able to find any bloopers so far. If you did, please let us know.

*** George Michael has only been added recently to the poll. ***
Hmmm.... I think I should have added him to the poll.
I like George Michael myself Joana. He has talent and looks. But let's be honest here. How many people are big George Michael fans? Sure, some people are, but he's an acquired taste. Some viewers love, some tolerate him and some can't stand the guy. They may have no problem with him as a person, they just don't like his music. If every episode is going to have Geroge Michael singing, then the 20% of viewers who hate the guy, may stop watching the show. I don't know if Eli Stone can take that kind of hit in ratings. You make a good point about how people may watch the show becuase of him. I just don't think he should be singing in every episode.
Thanks Joana.

The point I was trying to put across was that individually, George Michael was the big magnet. How many people are big "the other guys" fans? Do you know what I mean? He is the vision! :)
I think he'll be brought back in episodes 7, 9 and 13. In episode 9, as his "flesh and bone" self. The music will always be there I think...Loretta Divine sings a bit of One More try in the next episode (clip on ABC website). I'm curious. If I picked the schedule I'd change time slots with Lost, ie, Eli Stone earlier. I think Lost is going downhill.
-- Posted by: Anonymous at February 4, 2008 12:20 AMHi Joana!
I have added George Michael to the poll. I wouldn’t be surprised if he reaches the top of the list pretty quickly.
Has Lost always been at that time slot? If it has, I doubt ABC would move it and risk losing some ratings.
Thanx!
Hey, I only checked it out because George Michael was gonna be on it! Looks like an interesting show though...
-- Posted by: Cindy at February 4, 2008 11:57 AMSame here...the only reason I watched the show was because of George Michael. There are NUMEROUS shows that play music I don't care for, Grey's Anatamy and Smallville being the first to come to mind, but I don't watch or not watch them for the soundtrack. However, I realize those shows don't play the same artist each week.
-- Posted by: Alan at February 4, 2008 3:46 PMI agree with both of you guys. I just hope that people will continue to tune in because of the show. Eli Stone pulled in 15 million viewers for the pilot. That’s pretty good, but there really isn’t a lot of competition out there because of the strike. Bionic Woman had 14 million viewers at first, but by the four or fifth episode, they dropped to about three. Maybe Eli Stone will keep some of its viewers, who tuned in at first just for George Michael, but GM fans really don’t need to see him on Eli Stone. All they really need is YouTube and iTunes. Unless George Michael does some acting on the show, they have no incentive to tune in.
Who’s complaining? 15 million! I was worried they wouldn’t get five.
Thanks for the comments guys.
Well I agree with most points. But I would say 1 observation is missing. Many people were drawn to the series BECAUSE of handsome and singer-songwriter extraordinaire, Mr George Michael! He's an asset as far as I'm concerned. The guy's amazing!
