There are two significant things that occurred today and I'm here to tell you about both of them. The first occurred early on in the episode, when Shawn Senior passes away. He tells everyone that he wants to go before the devil knows he's dead, a reference to the old Irish proverb, "May I be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows I'm dead". The passing of Shawn Senior was one of the more touching parts of the episode.
Back in Salem, everyone worries about the people in the plane. Seriously, absolutely everyone is worried. Well, wouldn't you be? I think if I lived in Salem I wouldn't ever go on an airplane unless I was pretty sure there were plenty of significant characters aboard.
The less touching and slightly more cheesy part of the episode was the continuation of the countdown clock. It continued ticking down to everyone's demise. Does anyone think that at the end of the time everyone will just suddenly drop dead and we will be without DOOL? That's exactly what didn't happen.
Basically, time ran out and everyone starts gasping for air but fear not - John manages to save everyone by rewiring the exact part of the plane that was damaged and gets air flowing once more. Why noone thought to do that before Shawn senior passed away is beyond me.
