Boston Legal: Holy Cast Cuts Redux

According to Cynopsis today, several developments have complicated the infamous cast cut update. So without further ado . . .

The Bad News: Neither Julie Bowen or Constance Zimmer will be returning. This is easy enough to explain in Denise's case - after all, Shirley said "We're losing Denise to maternity leave soon anyway." But Claire is in the middle of a relationship with Clarence, and since she's not returning at all, expect a (hopefully somewhat) depressed Clarence in the season's beginning - assuming they even touch on her absence at all.

The Good News: Mark Valley and Rene Auberjonois will be returning for multiple episodes throughout the season. This is actually a good thing because it means David E. Kelley no longer has to struggle to find stuff for Brad or Paul to do, ofter than take objection to be mortified by Alan Shore respectively . . . well actually they both kind of do that. Also appears in multiple episodes is Saffron Burrows and Gail O'Grady (Judge Gloria Weldon). Also, we finally get Emmy winner Christian Clemenson full-time this season!

The Here-And-There News: John Larroquette will appear, though not in his Practice role, along with Tara Summers and Taraji Henson.

So there you have it - a few losses, a few gains and a few new entries. Hopefully all of this go to shape a better season for Boston Legal.
