I am speechless. No I'm not -- BEST EPISODE EVER! I didn't think they could top some shows from last season, but this one rivaled favorite MOVIES of mine.

Man, I haven't felt this exhilarated since watching the original Star Wars trilogy as a kid. The budget must have been through the roof for this one!

And I'm in total agreement on your fave scene - frakking amazing!

Wow. I am a huge sci-fi fan. I loved Star Trek and love LOST. This episode was the best single episode of TV drama I have ever seen. Amazing. This show deserves to be seen by 15 million people a week like LOST rather than the 2 million it gets. Superb.

Yeah. Good episode. Great scene with Galactic plummeting through the sky launching vipers. That was classic.

Most importantly, this is the end of the whole New Caprica story arc, and all of its problems.

It looks like we may be headed back to the show that I fell in love with, since everyone is being reunited on one battlestar--the Galactica--with the rag tag fugitive fleet behind it. I thought there was A LOT of symbolism in that scene where Adama shaved off the mustache he grew during the New Caprica story arc. In addition, we saw Roslin back in her office. I am hoping Apollo hits the gym next.

I agree that the episode is one of the 5 best to air to date. The Galactica jumping into the atmosphere and the Pegasus destroying 3 basestars are the kind of special effects that enhance the over all story and a worthy of a big screen movie. I also enjoy reading your reviews of the show, but your review of this episode does not follow the order of the story and was hard to follow.

Everything about this episode was brilliant. It was beautifully executed on every level (the bagpipe-like music absolutely KILLED me and the acting, editing and action were stunning).

The two scenes that got me were:

1. The Galactica "jump." Shan already described this beautifully, so I'll just say this: GREATEST FRICKING SCENE EVER IN THE HISTORY OF ANYTHING.

2. The zoom out on Galactica that went back back back back as Galactica was getting pummeled by the two Cylon base ships. And then ...

PEGASUS COMING BACK! Holy Jesus. Holy Jesus on toast.

And Shan, I totally agree re: the Serenity-Reaver scene comparisons. My jaw hit the ground in both scenes. -- mac

Thanks, Ed, for your input. I'm trying out this new format of grouping things by plot point instead of chronologically. Sorry if anything was hard to follow!

RCN posted a free 2 min segment from the next episode (not the teaser ad running on SciFi Channel). Jammer is really in for it! It looks like Cally didn't know or just didn't tell Tyrol that Jammer was the NCP who set her free.

Minni: I think the point of Tigh killing Ellen is that Tigh knew (because of what Anders said) that someone in the Resistance WAS going to kill her, even if Tigh couldn't bring himself to do it.

By Tigh doing it the way he did, he assured her a much easier death than she would have gotten from some of the other folks in the Resistance. In a strange way, it's really an act of love on his part.

Yes, the Galactica jump in/jump out scene was BRILLIANT but the Tigh and Ellen scene was just beautiful and heart breaking. Tigh and Ellen were the George and Martha (Whose Afraid of VIrginia Woolf) of the ship and in an ironic twist, had the most pure love. I was never a big fan of Tigh but I am soooo looking forward to his arc this season. Adama getting the glory and Tigh not getting any of it - oh it is going to be interesting between them this year.

SciFi may be rerunning during the week if you want to give your DVR another chance to make things right. Of course, there's also iTunes for $1.99 when you can't find it elsewhere. I'd check with your On Demand first, though. RCN has all the episodes so far this season.

Thanks for the rundown! Awesome. Came looking for this post after finaly getting to Season3 yesterday and I must say when Galactica came plummeting through the sky and I realised what was happening - as Hotdog shot out through the launch tube saying "Well... this will be different!" I really did squeal out loud in delight.

Certainly the most delightful AWESOME moment I've witnessed in SCI-FI since the opening seen of Serenity.

WOW. Big smile on my face! Thanks for your coverage.

Absolutely best BSG episode of all time! Easily replacing Pegasus, my former favorite episode. Excellent writeup on the episode, captures the essence of it well.
