Yes, that's right! NowPlaying Magazine is reporting that the Season Three premiere of the SciFi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" will air in OCTOBER 2006! No lie! SEVEN months from now! Arrrrggghh!
As the show's fans chomp at the bit for this week's Season Two finale - an extended 90-minute cliff-hanger episode - we must face the stark truth that we will have to wait more than half a year to see what becomes of our favorite characters. The gods must be punishing us - either that or Ron D. Moore and David Eick, the show's creators/exec-producers.
Last year, Time Magazine named "Battlestar" the best show of 2005, describing it as "a ripping sci-fi allegory of the war on terror, complete with religious fundamentalists (here, genocidal robots called Cylons), sleeper cells, civil-liberties crackdowns and even a prisoner-torture scandal." With such a long break I'm not sure it'll make the list again this year.
The chatboards are buzzing with the news. A recurring fear is that a seven-month wait will result in a further loss of viewers - the series lost a significant viewership when it went into its mid-season break last Fall. It looks like the producers and channel execs are willing to roll the dice.
Production on the third season begins in Vancouver next month, and 20 episodes of the show have been ordered for the season. The network press release promises "even more of the drama, intrigue, and action that viewers have come to expect from the series." Sigh. To make us wait seven months, it had better.
The season finale of "Battlestar Galactica" airs this Friday (the 10th) at 10pm ET/ 9pm CT. Check back with Battlestar Fodder for an episode review/discussion. -- Shannon Nolley

I just finished watching the season 2 finale. I'd like to direct the producers' attention toward the Bill of Rights. Ammendment VIII clearly states that we are to be protected from "cruel and unusual punishment." Making us wait SEVEN MONTHS for another installment definitely violates this tenet.
Thank you.
