SCI FI Channel has announced that it will air a special expanded 90-minute episode of its hit series "Battlestar Galactica" as the March 10th Season Two finale, starting at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
"Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 2" will be the show's biggest episode ever. It will follow the full sixty-minute episode "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 1" from the week before.
In the cliffhanger, the outcome of the presidential campaign hinges upon a core debate: whether or not to abandon the search for Earth when the Galactica crew discovers a habitable planet. When the election begins to swing in favor of Baltar (James Callis), a man whom Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) is convinced is a Cylon collaborator, the incumbent president must decide whether or not to take drastic measures for the greater good. Things become even further complicated when the Cylons, led by Caprica Six (Tricia Helfer) and Sharon (Grace Park), find the planet and offer humanity a stunning proposal of peace.
The Galactica finale will follow the season finales of SciFi's hit series, Stargate SG-1 at 8 p.m. and Stargate Atlantis at 9 p.m.
Frak! I can't believe we're already talking about the end of this season! It feels like Season 2 just picked up again. I'm dreading the days after the 10th. Please, SciFi Channel gods, don't let there be another 3-4 months until the next season starts! Us avid fan-types will suffer long, wretched, boring, empty television nights until Season 3 begins! I just won't think about it. La la la! --Shannon Nolley
