I have been a fan of Deadliest Catch for quite a while now. Watching the show gives me a window into something I can't even fathom. It also gives me a serious hankering for shellfish.
That said, I am finding it harder to watch the show's sixth season. Apparently, I am alone.
As many of you know, this season chronicles the end of the road for late Captain Phil Harris. The good captain died in February 2010, after complications from a stroke. Discovery has been press-releasing the crap out of this season, saying that the show is consistently number one in its timeslot.
Most recently, the network says that the July 6th episode, "Cain and Abel," scored the show's highest ratings to date, with an average of 5.26 million viewers.
That's a lot of people watching a lot of misery. I've watched a few minutes and part of me hopes Captain Phil will be ok in the end, because you know, it is TV. Sadly, we all know that won't be the case.
Are you watching this season? If so, you can catch new episodes of Deadliest Catch every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on Discovery Channel.
