TNT Plans Lawyer Buddy Comedy

Does the world need more lawyers? Maybe not, but apparently TV does.

TNT just added Franklin & Bash to its lineup. Billed as a "buddy series," the show centers around two goofy lawyers/friends, who join a stuffy law firm. The goofs in question are Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved by the Bell, Raising the Bar) and Breckin Meyer (Clueless, Heroes).

The network says they've invested 10 episodes' worth into this concept, which is the brainchild of Jamie Tarses (HawthoRNe), Kevin Falls (Shark, The West Wing) and Bill Chais (Shark, Dirty Sexy Money).

The show also stars Malcolm McDowell, Dana Davis, Kumail Nanjiani, Reed Diamond and Garcelle Beauvais.

"After viewing the outstanding pilot, we realized that its emphasis on quirky, likeable characters and solid procedural structure make it an ideal addition to our current line-up of series on TNT," said Michael Wright, executive VP and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "As an odd-couple pair of lawyers, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer play off each other extremely well. With the outstanding cast around them, plus Kevin Falls and Bill Chais' great words, we're very excited about bringing this series to TNT."
