After unleashing Omarosa, it's easy to understand why Donald Trump didn't return to The Apprentice. However, after multiple installments of the celebrity version, The Donald wants to get back to his TV roots and revive the original version, with average, non-celebrity contestants.
"This really is a sign of the economy," Trump told The New York Post. "It seems to be more pertinent than ever."
Trump says the show will feature 14 everyday people vying for a spot in his organization. Although NBC has not confirmed anything, the show is scheduled to come back in September, with another celebrity version expected in February 2011.
For now, The Celebrity Apprentice airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on NBC.
