Jay Leno Back to Late Night?

OK -- so The Jay Leno Show didn't really work out. Love it or hate it, most people seem to agree that scripted programming seems to work best in the 10:00 p.m. timeslot. What some can't agree on is what will happen with the former late-night host.

Gossip columnist Perez Hilton says that NBC execs have already made the decision for us. The rumor is that Jay's prime time show will be pulled pretty soon. Instead of making him do the walk of shame (most likely to another network), they have a crazy plan to send him back to his 11:35 p.m. (EST) timeslot -- for a whole 30 minutes.

From there, Conan will be pushed back and so will Jimmy Fallon. Aside from possibly shafting both of those guys, what would this move do to the institution that is The Tonight Show?

So yeah... Southland starts on TNT next week. Those guys have to be smiling. Whatever happens, we are excited about the possibility of more 10 p.m. programming.

Of course, it's all speculation at this point. However, what do you see as NBC's best plan of attack? Personally, we like Conan. He hasn't exactly set his timeslot on fire like we had hoped. Still, does that mean Jay should just get his old job back? Also, would that even work?
