Back in 1987, MTV's lineup was still heavily populated with music videos. However, they had one lone game show, Remote Control. It made sense -- college-aged contestants could sign up for the ultimate pop culture test.
If you could survive the rounds of "Dead or Alive," "Inside Tina Yothers" and the occasional visit by Denis Leary or Adam Sandler, prizes included CDs, cars and British Knights sneakers. It may have contributed to the downfall of MTV, but it was a fun show.
That's why it's so sad to hear that Remote Control's host, Ken Ober, has passed. MTV News says that the cause of death is unknown. He was only 52.
Recently, Ober had been busy with work behind the camera. According to IMDB, he served as a writer/producer for Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia. He also served as a producer for The New Adventures of Old Christine.
