"Southland" is Gone

If you were wondering when Southland was coming back, you can stop wondering. NBC has pulled the plug on the critically acclaimed cop drama.

The show premiered after the long-running drama ER ended last season. It got a short first season, although NBC seemed very eager for more. Well, now the network has filled its dance card with The Jay Leno Show. There's rumor that this move killed the drama, because Southland could be too risqué for a 9:00 p.m. time slot.

"I'm disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success," says producer John Wells. "We remain extremely proud of Southland and are actively looking for another home for the series."

The Hollywood Reporter says that six episodes have already been filmed. There's no word on what will happen to those. -- Rachel Cericola
