Patrick Swayze Dies

After months of rumors that Patrick Swayze had died or was "at death's door," Reuters is confirming the sad news that the actor has passed. He was 57.

In March 2008, a spokesperson announced that the actor was battling pancreatic cancer. He succumbed to the disease today.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," his publicist, Annett Wolf, announced in a statement.

Best known for his big screen roles in "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," Swayze recently starred in the A&E series, "The Beast." Despite his treatment and gaunt appearance, he continued to work on the series, as well as a memoir he wrote with his wife.

"The Beast" ran for 18 episodes, but A&E recently announced it would not be picked up for a second season.

It's not one of his most memorable moments, but it's certainly one of his funniest -- check out his classic appearance with Chris Farley on "Saturday Night Live" in the clip below. -- Rachel Cericola
