Maura Tierney Drops "Parenthood"

If you were looking for a reason not to watch NBC's new series, "Parenthood," we've got it -- Maura Tierney says that she will not appear in the upcoming show.

This summer, Tierney announced that she was seeking treatment for breast cancer. NBC pushed the show to a mid-season premiere. However, it appears that her treatment will take longer than expected.

According to MSNBC, doctors are confident about the outcome. However, she just needs a little time -- and another show once she is ready.

In case you were wondering, NBC's "Parenthood" is based on the 1989 Steve Martin movie. Tierney was slated to star as the single mother, originally portrayed by Dianne Wiest. The series also stars Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Dax Shepard, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen, and Mae Whitman. -- Rachel Cericola
