Sony just announced that season five of "Rescue Me" will soon be available on DVD.
The show has certainly done a lot for FX (and star Denis Leary). Doesn't it deserve the Blu-ray treatment? According to Amazon, seasons 1 and 2 have been discontinued. Season 3 is still out there, and season 4 hasn't made it to high-def yet. Doesn't it make sense to release the high-def with the standard DVD?
Maybe not, but this one would certainly look nice. Even lamer, the new DVD set includes three discs, but only the first 11 episodes of the season. Not sure if they will release a complete set at a later date. It's a tough call on the purchase though, because this season really gave the series a jolt -- as well as a lock for season six.
Season five features a retrospective look at Leary's Tommy Gavin, as well as the surrounding characters. It also includes guest stints by Michael J. Fox and Gina Gershon. The set will have bloopers, deleted scenes, and featurettes.
