Farrah Fawcett, the iconic star who was best known for her role on "Charlie's Angels," has died. She was 62.
The news is not surprising, but still saddening. The actress had been involved in a very public fight with anal cancer since 2006. Recently, Fawcett shared some of that experience in the NBC special, "Farrah's Story."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actress succumbed to her cancer early this morning, at Santa Monica hospital. Longtime companion actor Ryan O'Neal was supposedly by her side.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Fawcett began appearing in commercials in the late 1960s. She soon skyrocketed into stardom via the 1976 TV show, "Charlie's Angels." Despite only doing one season, that was one of her most memorable roles, which also led to her infamous pin-up poster. However, Fawcett was not just a pretty face and great hair. Critical acclaim followed in the '80s, with roles in "Extremities" and "The Burning Bed."
Fawcett is survived by O'Neal, who recently told Barbara Walters that the two were to finally marry, "just as soon as she can say yes." The couple also has one son, Redmond. -- Rachel Cericola
