The guy who spent 30 years making the greeting, "H-e-e-e-e-e-ere's Johnny!" famous has died. Ed McMahon was 86.
According to MSNBC, McMahon died shortly after midnight at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. His wife Pam and other family members were by his side.
The former "Tonight Show" sidekick had been plagued with various health problems lately, including bone cancer.
In 2007, the announcer fell and broke his neck, which prevented him from working. Since then, he's had a series of financial problems. Recently, he made news for the foreclosure on his home.
Born in Los Angeles, Wikipedia says that McMahon began his TV career at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia. He went on to host a variety of game shows in the 1950s, until he met Johnny Carson on the set of "Who Do You Trust?" The two left the show in 1962 and the rest is history.
McMahon is survived by his wife and five children. His son Michael died in 1995. -- Rachel Cericola
