ABC Ends "Life on Mars"

Jason-OMara.jpgIt looks like "Life on Mars" isn't all that interesting. ABC has cancelled the time-traveling cop drama.

The idea sounded good: Jason O'Mara stars as a 2008 detective working as a 1973 cop. Throw in Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli and Gretchen Mol and we must have a winner, right?

Apparently, no. Reuters says that the network will let the show finish out its original 17 episodes, with one of them tying up the show's loose ends.

It's a shame. This was one of the shows I always had on my "watch" list. Unfortunately, they put it up against the final season of "ER," and I had already invested too much time in that. Once it moved to Wednesdays, I was already out of the loop. I was hoping to catch up on DVD.

For now, ABC will burn off remaining episodes of "Life on Mars" on Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. (EST) -- Rachel Cericola

What a horrible decision! I had made the decision not to watch any new ABC programming (and give little opportunity for the majors to hook me anymore) for several years now. ABC cancels shows far to quickly. However, I stumbled upon Life on Mars and found it to be charming and wholesome. An interesting show I actually want to watch. I'm glad that they're finishing the season at least so people might yet get a chance to complain about the shows loss and reverse this short sighted decision. ABC has likely lost me forever with this latest decision.

Yikes! Another one of my faves bites the dust. First Eli Stone and now 'Mars.

How can they cancel this show? Why because there is no nudity? no bad language? I sure hope some other station picks it up I love this show

I am really tired of ABC taking on new projects that they aren't willing to commit. Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, were another casualties to this poor planning in which they seem infamous. I do wish ABC would just stay out of the time travel/supernatural theme and leave those shows to networks that are willing to give these shows an honest try.

ABC is too quick with the axe. Now it's off with Life on Mars. I liked Eli stone too - guess those shows were just too wholesome and entertaining for primetime. Guess it's back too turning off ABC one again!!

I can't believe ABC is canceling Life on Mars! It is one of my family's favorite shows. It has a great cast and a good story line. I especially love the music. Every time I get interested in a show on ABC, they cancel it. ABC is much too quick to jerk a show off the air and not give it it a chance. ABC, you just made my decision to never watch your network again very easy!! You've cancelled far too many great shows.

Great Show!!! ABC should run it during the off season when they are sure to pickup more viewers! Give it more time it deserves it! Actors are all great, story lines have all been great and make me want to tune in again to see happens next! ABC needs to promote it more in another manner! Maybe the title needs different expaination somehow?

I realize that numbers for ABC is all that matters...that must explain why soon the only thing left for them to show us on TV will be trash or reality shows...actual tv actors/actresses with talent will soon be obsolete and we will be left watching TV Land or USA reruns where talent will alway remain.

It seems the good shows always get the axe! I love this show, and actually just recently stumbled on it acidently after watching LOST. I dont usually watch ABC because most of thier programming stinks. I really hope one of the cable networks will rescue it.
