Seinfeld has finally made his way back to NBC primetime, but he's probably not bringing George, Elaine or Kramer with him. This time, his sidekicks could include Oprah, Ellen, and, well... Newman maybe?
We're not entirely sure. It doesn't even seem like Seinfeld will be in front of the camera. Instead, he is serving as a producer of "The Marriage Ref," as its tentatively titled. The new NBC reality show will ask celebrities from all walks of entertainment to counsel real-life couples during a dispute. It's like "Judge Judy," but most likely more sappy, and (hopefully) more entertaining.
"It will be revealing, edgy, controversial and very, very funny. Picture well-known people weighing in on a couple's relationship issues -- and deciding who is right and who is wrong -- right on the spot, like a referee," says Ellen Rakieten, an "Oprah" veteran, who is also working on the project.
It sounds along the lines of the Peterman Reality Bus Tour. After all, the last thing these people seem qualified to give a tour of is reality, right? -- Rachel Cericola
Not to nit-pick, but you know your article doesn't actually say what the new show has to do with Jerry Seinfeld. You have to click and read the first paragraph of NBC's press release to figure out that he's producing it, not appearing as a counselor or a guest or comic relief or something else.

Sometimes nit-picking is OK.
