It's no surprise, but Fox wants to keep "The Simpsons" around for a very long time.
The network just announced that they have picked up the animated hit for an additional two seasons. In case you are counting, those 44 new episodes will take the TV show through its 22nd season.
In January, the company launched a year-long celebration titled "Best. 20 Years. Ever." Those festivities include a poster contest, but we'd like to see some additional guest stars, free goods, and a Macy's-style parade. The fun should come to a head on January 14, 2010, when the series celebrates the 20th anniversary of its debut.
For now, "The Simpsons" airs every Sunday at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on Fox. -- Rachel Cericola
It will be a sad day in America when The Simpsons gets cancelled.
I hope it lasts long enough for my children to see it!
