For those fans that can't seem to get enough "Gossip Girl," well... you may soon have another hour.
"There has been a lot of speculation about a 'Gossip Girl' spinoff, but we were adamant that it had to be the right time and the right idea," said producer Josh Schwartz.
Apparently, that time is now. The May 11 episode will plant the seeds for that spin-off. The New York Times says that the new show will actually be a prequel.
The untitled drama will explore wild child Lily van der Woodsen (who is currently played by Kelly Rutherford), as she grows up in 1980s L.A. The CW has not confirmed a cast or a premiere date, but the network says it could debut as early as fall 2009.
The "Gossip Girl" finale is expected to air May 18 on The CW. -- Rachel Cericola
