"Ab Fab" Coming to Fox

jlumley.jpgWe know how much Hollywood loves remakes on the big screen. Now they are saturating TV as well.

Could you imagine a "Cheers" remake? Perish the though! Instead, TV loves to take its ideas from other countries. This time, they are giving UK classic "Absolutely Fabulous" the American treatment. Variety says that Fox has ordered the pilot.

The good news: Jennifer Saunders, who wrote and starred in the original, will serve as executive producer. Saunders starred alongside Joanna Lumley as two alcohol-consuming ladies consumed with fashion. Supposedly, the story will remain in tact, but will take place in L.A.

"Absolutely Fabulous" ran in the UK from 1996 to 2005. It's slated for Fox later this year. -- Rachel Cericola

Dear Jennifer:

Don't let them do to AbFab what Trevor Nunn did to CHESS. America kills cool.

CBS tried it once years ago - a remake of AbFab with Jean Smart called Style & Substance - it failed miserably.
