The truth may still be out there, but don't expect David Duchovny to sign up for another "X-Files" movie anytime soon.
The guy will be plenty busy, though. Showtime has just signed his sexy drama "Californication" to a third season. Duchovny stars as Hank Moody, a novelist with a penchant for sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Natascha McElhone and Evan Handler also star.
"It wouldn't be Showtime without a yearly dose of 'Californication'," says Robert Greenblatt, president of the network's entertainment. "This unapologetic show, about a group of characters led by the inimitable David Duchovny, has quickly established itself as one of our signature comedy series. Beneath its veneer of debauchery, however, is a complex take on love and adult relationships that surprisingly turns poetic and romantic just when you least expect it."
Showtime says the 12 new episodes will premiere sometime in late 2009. The second season of "Californication" will wrap December 14 on Showtime. -- Rachel Cericola
