NBC seems to be playing the shell game with its late-night hosts. Conan O'Brien is moving to "The Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon is taking the 12:30 slot. So where is Jay Leno to go? Into prime time, of course.
In a completely bizarre move, NBC says that they are giving Leno a new show at 10:00 p.m. (EST). That's not so bad. The weird thing is that it will be five nights a week, says Extra.
The move will not only keep Leno at the network, but will also stop him from competing with Conan. It probably helps cut the budget a bit too, since it's a lot cheaper to produce a talk show. The decision will pretty much cancel out all 10:00 p.m. programming for the network. No more "Law & Order" -- well, not at that time. That's the only show that will be effected anyway. NBC already cancelled "My Own Worst Enemy," "Lipstick Jungle" and "ER."
Still, it seems like a completely bizarre move. Expect the show to begin sometime after Leno leaves his late-night post, in 2009. -- Rachel Cericola
