Pushing Daisies: Not Dead Yet

Lee-Pace.jpgDespite rumors that "Pushing Daisies" was well... pushing up daisies, the quirky ABC show is still hanging on.

The show just wrapped its 13th episode, and The Hollywood Reporter says things don't look so good. The network needs to make a decision soon, so we're hoping to hear something solid in the next week or so.

However, any decisions could be swayed on how the show does when it returns in a few weeks. It's taking a short break for "Dancing With the Stars," as well as the Country Music Awards. This, of course, is assuming ABC doesn't can it before then.

One person that isn't waiting for the door to give him a spank: "Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller. He has expressed interest in returning to his old job, writing for the NBC drama "Heroes." The show might have a few slots, too. They just fired coexecutive producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander.

If "Daisies" does go belly up, Fuller says he would like to finish out the show's storyline in comic book form. I wish everyone did that!

"Pushing Daisies" will air this Wednesday in its regular 8:00 p.m. (EST) timeslot on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola

This show is too good to get canned so soon. It's just beginning to blossom, so to speak. There are so many story lines that have been introduced and that are still being introduced, so many interesting and funny questions being raised, and so much wonder to be had on this program.

It's too bad that the cast and crew are being put through the added stress of not knowing. The writing and acting on any show inevitably suffers from that limbo-like state. Not knowing, they tend to not put their hearts into it, and leaved the plot lines more muddied than they ought to be just in case they have to wrap the show way too early. I hope we don't see that at the end of the 13th episode here.

If ABC does drop it, perhaps another network will pick it up.

From what I've heard, I don't think that would happen. The show does have a cult following, but it's just not that strong. And with the guy sniffing around Heroes for his old job... well, it doesn't look that good.
