"King of the Hill" Cancelled

King-Hill.jpgApparently, propane and propane accessories aren't as hot as they used to be. Fox has cancelled its long-running animated sitcom, "King of the Hill," after 13 seasons.

The animated adventures of Hank Hill, his family and friends, first hit the airwaves in 1997. Over the years, it has showcased the vocal talents of Kathy Najimy, Brittany Murphy, Stephen Root, Breckin Meyer, Tom Petty, and even one of its creators, Mike Judge.

Both Judge and co-creator Greg Daniels have moved onto other projects. Judge is currently working on a new 'toon titled "The Goode Family," while Daniels wears many hats behind the scenes of NBC's "The Office." There's no word on whether the cancellation has anything to do with Fox's two new upcoming cartoons: "Sit Down, Shut Up" and the "Family Guy" spin-off "The Cleveland Show."

The New York Times says that "King" should reach the 250-episode mark around May, with the finale coming around summer. For now, "King of the Hill" airs every Sunday at 8:30 p.m. (EST) on Fox. -- Rachel Cericola

What a shame. King of the Hill is witty, funny, and deals with real issues. They should not cancel this show. It was around when animation domination first started off years ago when Futurama and the PJs were on. The show also stuck around, despite having a bad time slot for years. It used to get cancelled due to football. The show has been loyal to fox, so fox should stay loyal to the show.

It's a damn shame when TV replaces a quality show like King of the Hill with crap like American Dad.

It's a travesty for FOX to cancel King of the Hill. Better that they should make direct-to-DVD episodes rather than letting this legendary cartoon become a forgotten memory. King of the Hill, like The Simpsons, has the potential to outlive every single American. I would love to see Season 99 KOTH episodes on DVD as a reminder of what I will likely miss when I eventually die of old age.

This cartoon shows the best part of life in USA! It's a political question. This cartoon helps people in my country not to hate, but to love US way of life!

Every new show they try to introduce to sunday nights fails. Even American Dad gets poor ratings, its just kept alive by MacFarlane's clout. Is some highschool sitcom and another family guy clone going to make it? Fox should cling to King of the Hill for dear life

First Futurama, then King of the Hill. Fox would cancel the Simpsons and American Idol if they could get away with it. Don't forget, Fox also canceled FireFly. The execs at Fox truly are brain-dead.

This is a real shame. King of the Hill is one of the few decent shows left on TV. Now we'll be left with immature and over-the-top cartoons like American Dad.

Great Fox now cancels two great shows King Of The Hill and Futurama.Next thing you know they'll cancel The Simpsons.

It's not a sad day when this piece shit gets "flushed" to oblivion,it'll be a great day when koth goes down in flames.

I fucking hate that state and I like

About time they canceled this crappy, boring and plain stupid show. Hopefully they will cancel American Dad which I still don't know why it is still on the air.

-- Posted by: Rob Glifford at April 2, 2009 5:08 PM

Absolutely fucking pathetic. Dropping this great show in favor of a fart joke based spin of the Family Guy and the degenerate rantings of a 80 year old drug addict and his crack baby family (Osbournes).

Of course, honestly, this is the same sort of failure management we should expect from Fox.

To those assholes that believe it's sad that King of the Hill is sad need to get your heads out of your asses like Hank Hill.Seeing this show get torpedoed like the General Belgrano got by the H.M.S. Conquoer in 1982 "will be a day long remembered".When that happpends this sunday the only redneck piece of shit show left will be My Name is Earl.

The only braindead decision Fox made was not cancelling this piece of garbage at the end of season 10

-- Posted by: Blackhorse11 at June 11, 2009 1:57 PM

I can not believe that this show is being cancelled. I am very dissapointed in the Fox Network for making such an unfair decision. Why get rid of one of TV's greats. King of the Hill is
under-rated by many, but loved by many and I think that not watching this show of an afternoon at 5:30 will be upsetting because I've been watching this show since 2000.

-- Posted by: Aussie93 at August 4, 2009 9:24 AM

I love this show and my kids do too. I give a round of applause to all the ignorant comments posted. Very mature, bravo, very mature. I think the show is great. Its fresh from all the antics and mindless mishaps of Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson. I love those shows but why cancel a great one also.

-- Posted by: Quan Jackson at September 20, 2009 5:39 PM

Good bye and riddance is what people will be saying about the demise of this piece of shit show and to what was a great show Quan Jackson certainly not King of the Hill jerkoff.

-- Posted by: demetrius at March 3, 2010 10:29 PM

No surprise those who hate the show only hate it because it portrays middle America in a positive, if not flawed, way.

If you can't see the humor in the show, you're shallow.
