While all of the Olympics action may seem like a distant memory, NBC is still trying to get its money's worth. The network just announced that gold medalist and world record holder Michael Phelps will host the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live."
The show will also have musical guest Lil Wayne, a Phelps favorite.
A pregnant Amy Poehler is expected to appear this season, as well as regulars Seth Meyers, Darrell Hammond, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Kenan Thompson, Kristen Wiig, and Casey Wilson.
The premiere will be the first of four live shows in a row. Expect a total of seven before the program gets derailed by election fever. If that's not enough for you, "SNL" will also make a few regularly scheduled stops in NBC's primetime schedule. Expect to see "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" in the former "Scrubs" timeslot. Three live half-hour episodes will kick off on October 9.
The 34th season of "Saturday Night Light" will premiere September 13 on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola
