"American Idol" Adds 4th Judge

kdioguardi.jpgTired of trying to decipher Paula? When "American Idol" premieres its next season, we should see a slightly more coherent female judge in Kara DioGuardi.

Fox just announced (via People) that the Grammy-nominated songwriter will join the show as its fourth judge. I wonder if that means no celebrity judges this season. That seems like an awful lot of feedback.

Apparently, the show originally wanted to have four judges. Now, with ratings dropping slightly, it might be a good time to shake things up.

"We are turning the heat up on 'Idol' this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," said creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."

Does that mean she is the female version of Simon?
