It looks as though "Grey's Anatomy" may have a new direction for Katherine Heigl's character after all. How does six feet under sound?
According to E! Online, creator Shonda Rhimes didn't take too kindly to the comments Heigl made about the show, her character, and the upcoming Emmys. Exactly one month ago, Heigl took herself out of the running for a statue because she didn't think she was deserving.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," Heigl said. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."
While some applauded the move, others said it was more like a smack in the face for "Grey's" writers. Apparently, Rhimes thought so too.
Of course, the killing off of Izzie may never happen -- and reps for Rhimes and Heigl aren't talking.
Heigl recently starred in the big-screen hits "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses." She also just wrapped up another romantic comedy, "The Ugly Truth." Despite her budding film career, she will be seen on the upcoming season of "Grey's Anatomy" when it returns September 25 on ABC. -- Rachel Cericola
